So I'm building this video game thingy ...
We interrupt your normal FA experience for a bit of unimportant jibber-jabber ... As per usual, I've been bouncing from one project to another over here, amidst all the chaos of moving into a new home. Things are slowly settling into place here, and I like my new home very much, complete with my own underground SUPER-SECRET LAB!
Okay, so it's not super-secret. It's just the far side of my bedroom. But it is underground. I like living in basements. They're comfy, quiet and secure. Very easy to hide away from the rest of the world down here.
Anyway ... the most recent thing I've been working on has been tinkering with my old RPG combat game. It's finally up and running, at least to a point:
1) It creates a basic combat between one hero and a group of two monsters.
2) The monsters use AI to determine who they're going to attack (currently there's only one valid target), then do so. Attacks are purely visual; the victim's icon shakes and a red number for damage pops out, but the actual health and health bar do not decrease.
3) Both monsters attack in turn, and then the player takes their turn. Since the only valid action at this point is to attack, it simply asks the player to pick a target by clicking on it.
4) Once done, the hero attacks that target.
5) Back to step 2.
So yeah. Really really rudimentary stuff. But now that I can visually see things happening and the core mechanic is working again, lots of additional functionality should just fall into place. Or so I hope.
If there is any interest in seeing a preview of this game, I can post it as a submission sometime soon. Maybe over the weekend. Let me know!

Thanks for the warning, love! I'll be sure to extend the drawbridge and deactivate the auto-turrets for you.
