A special note about Anthrocon
In a journal I made for FWA, I wrote this:
"In all likelihood this won't be a problem, but I'm a person who stutters and stammers sometimes, and it might take a second to get a word out in conversation. If there's a weird pause in the middle of a sentence, know that I am not trying to make a weird dramatic point.
Also, because I take extra effort in forming my words completely and fluently, and the intonation is sometimes off, some people think I come from a foreign land. I'm from the US, though.
On a related note, if there are any other furs who stutter, I would *love* to chat. You can come up to me and stutter your way through your introduction all you want; Believe me, I know what that's like and I won't be made uncomfortable by it."
For the past couple of years, my speech has been consistently fluent, and the moments of disfluency have turned from long, nervous, self-compounding episodes into little road bumps in the middle of a sentence, and nothing more. The biggest part of overcoming disfluency was the act of "disclosure:" It's letting people know that I stutter, so there is no question as to what's going on when I, for instance, cannot speak my name or answer a waiter.
Anyways, my request of conversation still stands if there are any other furs who stutter, or if anyone is curious about it, feel free to ask, either here or in person. See you soon!

FA+

Unfortunately I'm too far away from ANY con, being in Japan for the month and all. XD
Can't get naughty with them either XD
If you're ever on the West Coast, let us know.
have you seen a speech therapist or tried medications? i haven't had much success.
im only now beginning to accept it. but its a very slow and tough process. do you find yourself trying to overcompensate for assumptions that people make about someone who stutters?
I actually haven't noticed at all. I did think you were European for some reason. I'm guessing because of your outward appearance and the personality of your drawings...
I don't think I stuttering that much, but I'm much more confident in my abilities in the written word...
Depending on your plans/schedule/etc for AC it would really make my day to get some little doodle from you of anything really, willing to pay of course. I hate to be THAT GUY and even bring it up, but I would probably regret not having asked!
No AC for me, but perhaps I can pencil you in for later :3
I don't have a legit stutter, but sometimes my brain moves faster than my mouth can talk.
I also pause when I am looking for the correct word with the precise definition and/or connotation that I am looking for. Sometimes people have misinterpreted the "dramatic pause"
