Changed my mind on Anthrocon

Sorry guys I decided not to go to AC. I hate to be such a letdown, especially for those of you whom I had already made plans with, but my heart just isn't in it.
Before you yell at me for being a tease and dropping off at the last moment, I'd like to explain myself a little.
1. I just got a new job less than 3 weeks ago, and to make AC a worthwhile trip, I'd have to play hooky on Friday... which just seems like a terrible idea only 3 weeks into a job.
2. Even with the hookie-day, I'd have only 2 full days of convention-time, with 800 miles of travel round-trip. Not much bang for the buck
3. I never really liked AC. Its a very poorly-run con and is consistently behind the times, late-adopting everything. Its too political and there's too much drama. The one thing it has going for it - the size - is also a drawback in some ways. Sure you get to see like every fur you've ever met, but to see them all you can only spend like 5 minutes on each one. I prefer smaller cons where I can actually spend time with people.
4. All of my good costumes are at the
FrozenOasis Central Command in Rochester. So I would be mismatching articles of attire. I put together something I thought would work last night, looked at myself in the mirror, and just hated it. But to drive to Rochester to get the good costumes would add another 5+ hours onto the trip.
5. Expense... its not a very expensive con for me, but even the couple-hundred I save would be nice for me to have to use on other expenses.
6. No good parties. I go to cons for the people and the nightlife. AC has more of a night-death. At 10 pm half the con goes to sleep. The only good party is the Hudson Furs Party, which you have to walk halfway across the city to get to, and that's not even in the neighborhood of a Frozen Oasis (no offense guys - you do very well with what you've got!) Its just so-sad that one of the countries smallest cons has a party several orders of magnitude more vast and epic than the largest con.
These, among other reasons, have kinda made me lean towards skipping this year.
So - yeah. Have fun, guys! Maybe I'll feel more up to attending AC next year when I have some vacation time and am a little better prepared and have some cash stashed away for it.

Save your energy and money for a con you're really into. No point wasting it if you're "meh" on going anyway.
I kid, I kid. Anyway, that's a respectable decision esp. because you just got a job. I had to tell my employer a week in that I needed to request time off 2 weeks in advance and I felt terrible for it. There are a few better alternatives to AC, like FWA when that comes around next year. :}
I'm convinced that if everybody started at the same time, AC would have already shut down due to lack of interest.
Actually, go read this http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/...../#cid:19756617
Its an exchange between me and a (sorta)friend of mine that I got a badge from at FWA this year. She likes the con, and complains a little about people who are the more rowdy sort at cons. :p
I am perfectly fine losing all of them. Good riddance. They can have AC and Furfright (of course they'd both be bankrupt in a year if us party-luvin-furs didn't show up)... but perhaps that would be for the best too!
Also it really says a lot about humanity, and how we should separate ourselves too. People who want to be police-state controlled sheep should all move to Canada and leave the US for the real people. Or vice versa... I don't care... I just hate living with their pliant ignorant helpless herd. I want my freedom, and shouldn't have to sacrifice it because they're too scared of self-responsibility.
Well miss ya~
