Your character, your choice I always say. Will be looking forward to seeing more of them both to be honest, I like both of them.

Not what you asked for, but figured this was a good a time as any to share my opinion on this.

I'm glad you like them, but I really am interested in rebooting him. He's too generic at this point. He's too... defined by his loincloth. When he's naked he's just another fennec.

And his personality is just me. I think I'm okay in terms of being interesting, but I play me every day in real life, and I'd like in fantasy to take a break from that. :P

Hun, what you do is ultimately up to you, but perhaps we could include a fur pattern? Something fitting, like a scarab or ankh somewhere on the arms?

I think some other fennec has already done the back ankh. And that person also got a lot of flak (not from me) for copying Jaspian too closely. So... I think that one might be off-limits.

Gotta agree with Lafeel, I've liked both characters, and personality-wise they've got to be your choices not ours, or they can't really be your characters. As for style, the Egyptian theme definitely works. Maybe something like the paint that Anck-su-namun had in The Mummy >.> would have to make it something like a fur dye, although, it might get smudged around a lot, Jaspi's pretty sexy *blushes*

I agree with everyone here, it's your choice what you do with Jaspian.

I do have one idea though...

Make Jaspian, Etheras' twin brother, whereas Etheras is the evil one, Jaspian can be the good guy. Also, I think that Jaspian would look good with some tribal markings.

Jaspian being well a generic Egyptin fennec is why I fell in love with him (not literally mind you) I could always tell Jaspian apart from the others quite easily and honestly I prefer Jaspian as he is...Etheras is a tyrannical femboi ruler in my eyes...Jaspian is more of a Prince, a sexy prince as where Etheras is a gorgeous (it's the white fur) femboi with a lust for Equines...Personally Jaspian can work as a "The Peoples" Prince that's generous and more for the ppl as with Etheras he's a dark tyrannical Ruler with a lust for self gratification base on using his aluring femboi charm to establish a tyrannical hold...that's just how I see it personally

When I brought up the question of whether Jaspian and Etheras would ever pair up, you said that they could never get along. So why not make Jaspian into a formidable rival? Do a Spy vs. Spy sort of thing. The personalities of both characters will reveal themselves more in the ways they attempt to get the better of each other.

Jaspian is Etheras' half brother right? I read somewhere that he was supposed to represent most of the things Etheras was not. He could be rebooted as a kind a gentle personality. Someone who is not very outgoing and rather shy. Prefers to live simply instead of living in the luxurious style that I would assume Etheras prefers. But it's your character. Maybe a reference sheet should be created so that people know exactly how to draw him (With your permission of course). Just me throwing ideas out there because I love these two characters. I can't wait for the new content.

Perhaps, you incorporate Jaspian's absence into the Etheras/Jaspian canon. Jaspian was away on some journey of self-discovery, or a quest of sorts (kind of like King Richard and Prince John in Robin Hood, but much adorable and much Crusades-ish). In keeping with the Egyptian theme, maybe the two brothers each split off into their own particular domains, Etheras, being all-white, wears the pure white head dress of the Egyptian Upper Kingdom, a comparatively harsher land to live in that would have shaped Etheras' harsh style of ruling. Jaspian would rule the Lower Kingdom, being at the Nile Delta, it would have been much more fertile and plentiful and "happier," I suppose, to fit in with Jaspian's outlook of the world.

Like ::JackieFrillove:: said above, I think there should be an interaction between the two characters, but an outright conflict wouldn't work well. Jaspian is a happy and benevolent ruler and it might not put him in the right light if his kingdom was in an outright conflict with his brother. Etheras, on the other hand, is that vicious and would have the cunning and ruthlessness to take over; if he lost, or was held at bay by Jaspian, that weakens Etheras' "baddass-ness." Or might I also suggest, for your consideration, that Jaspian and Etheras are both still princes in the royal court and their vying for influence (Jaspian being honest and noble, Etheras being through intrigue, blackmail and other forms of nastiness) is contained within that arena. One twin is not meant to be inherently better than the other, so they have to be evenly matched (though in different skillsets). I can't recall if Etheras and Jaspian have ever been in the same piece of art, but that would also be interesting to see as well. I look forward to hearing the new art and stories that you come up with.

Perhaps some subtler visual differences? Etheras (if I recall correctly) has no pupils, even though he is often displayed as having them. Maybe that could be a trait transferred over to Jaspian? Perhaps a different eye colour, or moon eyes (Foggy green eyes, purple, a brilliant blue, hazel, subdued red or aquamarine, etc.)? Moving downward, perhaps he could have a unique pattern? Tattoos, scars, little tweaks in fur pattern or freckled areas can make a character a little more recognizable. Not in any noticeable sense, sure, but still.

I did really, really like the older Jaspian art, and especially the (quite frequently used) description of him as "an orange cremesicle." I thought it was an adorable little quirk. You mentioned also how, in Etheras' design, he was supposed to be especially slender and long in the legs and neck; again, why not allow that to transfer over? I feel it would emphasize the similarity between the two characters, and leave enough possibility space in their designs to stress a difference.

Going back to the older Jaspian art, I remember a collection of phrases and exclamations like "Victary!" and "I no has (insert X)?" Again, perhaps that could be kept? I guess what i'm saying is that to make him stand out, you probably could keep a huge amount of stuff that has already been established, and only change a few of the more generic aspects of him. He's already such a well-recognized and (dare I say) classic character.

But to sum up what I'm talking about: You could transfer Etheras' slenderness of the neck and legs to Jaspian, draw the parallel with the Pupil-less eyes and perhaps change their color to green, purple, or blue (really that sandy fur color goes good with just about anything). Also, you could incorporate tweaks in his fur pattern like freckled areas or other subtle visual changes. As someone who watched the change from Jaspian to Etheras, I think the characters are already developed enough separately to be paired together without much lore-related or visual difficulty: I don't think much needs to be done to overhaul him. But, I've said my piece, and am afraid that I've been a little redundant, but I just can't think of what else to suggest.

It's hard to make the "good guy" as entertaining as the "bad guy" I think. I don't think you can make Jaspian as interesting as Etheras, though by looks I've always preferred cute lil Jaspian ^^ Jaspian is such a nug, and I think it'd be weird for him to be involved in all the kinkier scenes Etheras takes part in. Maybe Jaspian stays as more of a cutsie romantic character? I dunno just spitballing here. I'm not very good at coming up with ideas like this.

As far as looks I really wouldn't change a thing with either of them, so there's my 2 cents on that.

Oh and sorry about not getting back to you on that note yet. I keep forgetting to do it when I'm free and remembered it when I'm busy. I'll try to (hopefully) send it to you tonight

Im glad your bringing back Jaspian! he was one of the reasons i fell in love with fennecs and created one myself XP I've been a big fan of both him and etheras for a long time :3
im not very creative so i cant really think of any changes, i personally love him the way he is, but if you want to change him up a bit, i would love it if you kept the Egyptian theme at least :3 sorry i couldn't be much more help.
