I have to disagree there, and not just because I like the show. (srsly)

Animation-wise, the latest installment of MLP is easily one of best shows I've seen animated in flash, Wakfu being the only other show animated in flash that doesn't strike me as horrid. Given, there is a abundance of badly animated flash cartoons out there, but I seriously don't see how MLP fits within that realm of shittly animated flash.

Most new cartoons, if not all, that are done in flash simply suck in my opinion. The cartoons you mentioned, to me, are just as awful as the MLP show.
Classic animation cannot be replaced so easily. It's all fucking wonky and a cop out to make more money in a shorter period of time.

If you want a show to rage good and hard at, watch Adventure Time sometime. I rage every damn time I see it. That or Regular Show. Both of those shows make me flailrage for different reasons, but I'm sure that you would get a good rage out of them for the animation

I enjoy the show. I watch it, then I go back to doing other stuff. The fanatical ones take it way too seriously. And as far as animation goes, its a shit ton better then most of the shit on cartoon network now a days, which I think are done by middle school students with flash. I miss the days back when cartoons didn't suck.

There are only a handful of cartoons from this day and age that I like, but I rarely watch, so it doesn't really matter to me.

I'm usually a loner with most of these games... that might be why :x then again, Terraria I was with friends, and we beat like, everything, and then there was nothing else to do.
Though, I have a few friends playing Spiral Knights, so it might be fun like playing TF2 once in a wile. Or Monster Hunter Tri.

It's actually kinda funny, because I like this new MLP thing, and I'm still super-pissed at Three Rings for what they did to SK. There's still healing to be done, at the very least.

I think that's what bothered me the most. Seeing legitimate artists bow down to this garbage fad. The amount of artistic talent put into this MLP cartoon could be scraped off the bottom of a boot. It's insulting.

It's a bit, but it's also an easy style to emulate. Everything is cookie-cutter, simple designs now. Nothing crazy like THUNDER CATS.

See now, I'm fine with people disliking a show over the animation. It seems as petty to me as someone hating a movie for not being live action or a scifi epic for being a game, but people have their tastes and perhaps my being a writer rather than visual artist contributes to my own love of any medium that tells a good tale. What bothers me here is that you just crossed the line of accusing only certain people of being "legitimate artists," and furthermore seemed to imply it's somehow demeaning to art that they like something that doesn't fit your personal tastes.

I believe what this person had was an opinion. If he thinks an artist's work looks like crap when they do simple styled cartoon fanart, then that's what he thinks.

You don't have to read into it so deeply, and write a raging reply about it.

Eh, it was mostly the legitimate artists part that bugged me. I enjoy a lot of visual styles and have seen way too many people get waved off as inferior in cases where it really is a matter of style. You know, actual stylization as opposed to some kid yelling "it's just my STYLE!" When they give their anime people mitten-hands.

That doesn't happen in MLP. It still uses some flash tweens, but it tends to be very understated and treated more like it would be in traditional animation.

That said, that doesn't mean people should be bugging you over and over to watch it either.

Perhaps I'm just picky, or don't like how it's animated, because that's what it looks like to me.

Yeah that's true but, the only thing that changes is the animation and, the way they have to write it for children. It's like they think, oh lets just dumb it down for kids since they wouldn't understand what was going on. It's just entertainment, no real educational view like old cartoons did at all. But I guess that just how there going to do it for now on.

I'm with you on getting annoyed with it being everywhere. Even some of the people I watched just kept on churning out pony art. It gets very annoying after a while. >:T

I had a handful of the original ones when I was little, but they were hand-me-downs from my sister.

I was more partial to TMNT figurines. lol

Personally I enjoy the show, though it took a long time and a lot of clips from friends whose judgement I actually trust to finally give it a chance... If they'd shoved it on me instead of just occasionally sending a humorous clip, it would probably be another story. But I can understand your distaste, and I can DEFINITELY understand annoyance over how much it's wound up flourishing everywhere. The people who won't lay off you about it need to piss off. Trying to force a series on someone usually just brings contempt for it.

That, and I did watch it out of curiosity. I couldn't finish it. I'm just picky when it comes to cartoon animations.

And I'm sure there are plenty of story-related elements that can only reinforce that. Pft, I enjoy it but the series is far from flawless. Sometimes the corny just hurts to watch.

It is annoying to filter out the vast amount of material that is generated based on that show. I suppose the simple characters make it easy to create fan art and this is the first new "anthro" show for many people who've grown up and missed projecting their "fantasies" on older cartoons, so people have seized on this show and it got out of hand.

Everyone just likes ponies. I don't know why. I'm not particularly a fan of equines to begin with...

Hey, the show is probably made by North Koreans who have to eat each other if they want lunch, cut them some slack.

It's sort of funny really, because ponyfans are just the sterotypes of furries come to horrible, sickening life. Personally, I believe the show's subpar. Being an animator at Animation Collective, a lot of Flash animation is not only about tweening, but it's mainly the keyframe. Hell. I kind of liked it. I was only in betweening (I actually animated the movements. AC frowns upon tweening) in ones, VERY seldom twos. I might just inbetween an anticipation (ie, throwing a ball you get ready to pitch, that small bounce) and maybe two more frames before I either "blurred" to the next keyframe. The keyframes are now the shot. That POP. In a way, it's cool. You get a lot of nice timing and spacing with jokes and gags; specially takes. I only saw one episode. The one about the twitching tail, I only liked maybe a few of their keyframes of takes and expressions. Everything else was just mediocre. Possibly the main thing I liked were the layouts. Love a nice distorted perspective.

Mind you Canada is PRIME animation territory; only setback is that you HAVE to be a citizen; that's not tough thing. I think it's at least a four/five year process. And they DON'T believe in foreign labor.. But a lot of flash cartoons in general whether from the US or from Canada are slacking.

I just hated how BOUNCY and way too.. Idunno... lack of hand animation look it has.

Its just another fad that'll come and go, just like Avatar blue cat people, Portal references, How to train your Dragon, and a hundred other things people have flooded this place with over the years.

I honestly feel the same way. I would have not paid a single iota of emotion/attention towards the show had it not been shoveled into my face everyday by everyone I know :( Truth be told I think the style is cute and fun, and I'd not have even given it a thought, but the sheer amount of inundation of the MLP fandom that is invading my personal space just puts me off.

I don't have anything against the show, and I'm perfectly happy with people being fans of it and liking it for themselves. The part that absolutely kills it for me and drives me rather batty is the fact that it's being rubbed in my face everywhere, all the time. I just want to crawl under a rock and hide from PONIES.
