I'm a lazy fucker.

I got really into Garry's Mod/Wiremod a few weeks ago. I'd spend hours every day perfecting a laser-guided teleporter, or building an automatic NPC mangler, or stressing over the little hula girl beacon sensor, making sure she was perfectly calibrated on my robowasher. Anyway, I eventually got burned out on it.
Then I somehow got hooked on roguelikes again, playing T.o.M.E. until my eyes melted from staring at ASCII graphics for hours. My little hobbit thaumaturgist was doing so well, until I foolishly decided to traipse across Middle-Earth with only a handful of rations.
ANYWAY. The point being, I haven't drawn anything in quite awhile. I've been inundated with ideas, but I can't seem to put anything down on paper. More importantly, I haven't been working on the trades or commissions I owe. This is because I'm a loser, and I sincerely apologize for my inept behavior.

FA+

After a day of playing around, I already knew how to construct a clock, including seconds. Then I have a bit experience with digital electronics and programming, which helps allot in wiremod. xD
Always a fun way to take a break from your technical construction, and just messing with stupid poses. Sometimes I try to attempt combining a ragdoll with my creations, though it's not always too... successful.
...though technically dwarf fortress is just a sequel to a quite less known game. So I assume you confused the terms, unless Dwarf Fortress II is some unoffical sequel.
Damn, I been playing Dwarf Fortress obsessive myself. Since I somewhat mastered it, I have attempted to do weird challenges... such as playing on a Aquifer map and trying to get past the Aquifer layer... which is quite tricky. xD
I yet have to try the adventure mode of Dwarf Fortress, even if it's supposdly improved. The simulation part is just too addicting.
...still, in the ten months of time there was a quite few improvements. But there was also a quite few bugs added, some rather bad slowdown issues as well (which is for the most part fixed anyway).
I find it more enjoyable when you limit the amount of dwarfs to a managable amount myself. Having 100 dwarfs too soon isn't too nice. Then I figure I usually assign too few military dwarfs in my fortresses. Not like there's much of a reason to, sieges are bugged now. xD They come... but only stands in a corner.
Eh, it's not really that hard to understand. You can sorta play through a good part of the game while only caring about one or two Z-level before you master it.
And the fluid dynamics rocks. I have a fortress that pumps up water from the aquifer. I had to make a small dam to make sure it wouldn't flood my fortress. And yet, my dwarfs wind up swimming alot as they have a tendency to either hunt or pick up stuff that is in the water haha.
Heh. Part of me wants to finish off Nethack before playing more rogue-likes. Then... I never seem to get past the dwarf mines. xD Which is ironic as Dwarf Fortress is probably the rogue-like I play the most currently, although my addiction isn't as bad as it used to be.
Maybe if I didn't play mages and wasn't in it for the long haul?
Is ZAngband any good, or do you have any recommendations?
Honestly, I wouldn't recommend ZAngband. Its plot is a horrible mishmash of Tolkien and Zelazny, the randomly generated overworld is usually and unfairly unbalanced mess, it hasn't seen an update in four years and it's generally one of the most difficult and unforgiving *bands out there. I played a single character on wizard mode for the better part of a year, cheating death constantly, and I STILL never got anywhere. I have no idea why I stuck with it for so long.
T.o.M.E. ( http://t-o-m-e.net/main.php?tome_current=0 ) is one of the better variants I've played in awhile. It's deep and complex, while still staying coherent for the most part. My only real complaint is that, since the overworld isn't randomly generated, the starting dungeon and quests can get monotonous if you die a lot. Barrow-downs has this distinctive look that I'm getting sick of.
Also, you might consider checking out Steamband ( http://angband.oook.cz/steamband/steamband.html ). It's a steampunk Angband variant taking source material from classical literature. It's short, fairly simple and relatively easy as far as roguelikes go, but it's seriously the most fun I've had out of any of these. Its ambiance, if you can call it that, is absolutely wonderful.
I'll take a crack at ToME, an overworld sounds exciting.
I assume the overworld is exciting! I've never actually been anywhere else yet. Finally got to the bottom of Barrow-downs, figured I was strong enough to try someplace else, so I go a couple overworld tiles over to the old forest ... it starts at level 13, and barrow-downs went as far level 10, so I figured I was ok. Within two dozen turns a homonculus had paralyzed me and eaten my vital organs. *sob*
I just realized this.
How can dog be friend with cat? :C
PS: Why are you up this late? Why am I up this late? oh god ;_;
From my experience, it's usually the cats being a little bit more stubborn than dogs. But if you get the cat used to dogs at a young age, it's usually not a problem.
Then, we did chat about stereotypes other week on tapestries haha.
It makes it alot easier to like cats when they don't make you wanna cry and sneeze constantly. :x
Fun thing, people I know who is allergic to cats either loves them alot... or hates them. xD
...eh that sounds rather lame actually.
With a high high dose of CO2
T.O.M.E. ?! Cool...course I still prefer playing nethack when in the mood to stare
at ascii for hours on end...
