Reposting this from my reply on Skidd's journal, because meme's should be shared properly! :D
You know what's freaky? Earlier this week I heard another piece that's been nostalgic to me and thought "Maybe I should make a second list." ... GET OUT OF MY HEAD SKIDD!!!
Right, the list:
Grandia 2 : Final boss -
I think Grandia 2 was my very first JRPG that I chose to play on the PC years ago. Ofcourse it was ridden with cliché and some annoying characters (why is it that the Church is always the bad guy in JRPGs huh?). I found it damn catchy to listen to, probably the first time I heard a more symphonic rock number too.
And speaking of rock...
Guilty Gear X2: No Mercy (Ky Kiske vs Sol Badguy) -
I could list the whole goddamn GGX2 soundtrack here, there are so many of them I like. Sure the character roster has a greater belt fetish than Rob Liefeld could ever dream of, but it was probably one of the flashiest fighting games I played at the time, one that still held onto 2D sprites in an age of 3D graphics.
What really got me interested in the game was because of a certain artist who was my idol back in the days I still frequented the Howtodrawmanga forums. Stupidly enough, I forgot his name at this point, because he was really.. REALLY good :(
Chrono Trigger: Robo's Theme -
CT? AGAIN?! ... well, Robo was a great character, powerful ally, and probably the first videogame character who has ever rickrolled you:
Banjo-Kazooie: Intro -
MOST GODDAMN FUN GAME I EVER PLAYED AMG!!!
Seriously, this was THE one game that made me have the greatest doubt of selling off my N64. I just.. didn't want to do away with it, this is still the most entertaining game I ever played. Ever.
Isn't this thing on Wii Virtual store yet? Oh right, RARE gave the franchise to Microsoft.. :<
Duke Nukem 3D : Grabbag (intro) -
No one linked the Duke yet? Come ooon! ;D
Now don't get me wrong, wether or not DN Forever came out, the series ended for me with 3D. I think that's the one everyone will have most fond memories of.
I also didn't play that DNF, it's just... way too late guys. Duke doesn't belong in this time anymore. He was an 80's / 90's action movie hero.
