So my laptop has finally died...

The Pterosaur sez:
Its served me well these past few years but I don't think it will be coming back from this latest problem. According to all the digging I've done and the diagnostic I ran it would appear that my hard drive is failing and this is causing nothing but constant blue screens whenever I try to boot it up.
I luckily did a back-up under a month ago but this still means I've got to recover a few things from between then and now. Mostly work on one big commission as well as a story I had been writing. My friend tells me that he should be able to get anything that wasn't yet backed up and being the computer guy that he is I am pretty sure he can.
So things will be a bit slow, I know I haven't been around much and this is just hindering my return further XP
I guess the only thing I'm unsure of how to salvage is my minecraft saves. I'm not sure where they are stored for me to pull them for salvaging XP That's a lot of work to lose right there. A few months worth at least.
Edit: Also I know I have some messages concerning an outstanding fur trade. Don't worry I will get back to you in due time.

(I'm asking so I can tell you where the minecraft saves are kept |3)
To get there quickly, hold windows key, press R, type in "%appdata%\.minecraft\saves" in the window that pops up and press enter. :>
(at least, i assume it's the same for XP media and XP home, might not be though!)
also is it *username* or do I insert my minecraft username there?
(Also thank you for your help :D)
I had to do the same thing for MY minecraft because it got trashed by a texture pack. My computer was barely able to run it before but the texpack just whomped it and now Minecraft won't run anymore. So I still managed to save my saves, but can't play.
Also you could try running spinrite over your hard drive that should give you good access to it for a short while at best.
I hope you still have or have access to Windows and software disks.
I can loan you a my copy if your ok with shipping stuff about.
O.O
Also, try taking it to a Geek Squad or something to see if they can salvage the data. Digital wizards might not save it, but they might be able to save the brain in a jar before it dies altogether.
Right now since this laptop is basically held together with duct tape, the U key wont stay on, one of the two memory sticks is apparently borked and this new hard drive works fine but has some oddities about it. I'm gonna get a new laptop, update myself for the first time in like 6 years X3
Can you please send me a quick note about our fur trade?
