If a woodchuck was able to successfully chuck wood, how many decks would it collapse before it realized that having patio furniture bounce off it's head hurt? XD
It would understand it the first time and realize that landscaping is where all the money is at, so it could chuck wood to it's hearts content AND get paid to do it!
Boredom has no reasons. Boredom is self contained in itself.
I once spoke to a Buddhist monk about boredom. He said that boredom is really a lack of intention rather than lack of drive. We try to distract ourselves from it, but the only way to cure it is to focus on our intentions in order to get through it.
reads all that and smiles "whoa....revalation for me, cool! ^*^ but he is right, wich is proly why im never bored....just lonely o*o' I always know what my intentions are and i dont stop till those intentions are met.
Apollo 9 actually sprouted from the song by the same name by Adam Ant. PJ sort of sprang fully formed from that song as a captain who pissed off a woman higher up than him (and there was Vivian). From there, I embellished it a bit with inspiration from the movie Down Periscope (seemingly useless crewmembers and ship, Updike). Syzygy was actually an old MUCK character of mine, and shi was a frequently annoyed by events in the game, which was really pretty funny given how mellow and even-keel chakats are normally portrayed. Sunstreak belongs to Sunstreak and Roz belongs to another friend of mine.) Zooey was also another character I had from MUCK'ing days.
Lastly, I needed a female crew member to serve as a distraction for the playboy Captain that he couldn't get away from, as well as be the antithesis of Vivian. Hence, Cirini was born.
Zooey is actually an androgen. Genetically, shi technically has XX chromosomes, but sexual characteristics never developed and are vestigial if they exist at all. There's a whole long backstory about it that is a government secret.
Though being an androgen isn't really a secret. Zooey is just incredibly amused that people are too embarrassed to ask.
It happened back in 2002. A couple of friends of mine approached me and said they had gotten a dealers table at Conifur Northwest, and they wanted to put together some collaboration books and prints to sell. They really wanted me to contribute, and asked if I had any pieces to it.
"Conifur Northwest? What is that?" I asked.
"It's a convention for furries." They said.
"What's a furry?"
"It's anthropomorphic animals. Like, Bugs Bunny would be considered a furry."
"..."
"They actually have a whole fandom for this?" I said with a laugh.
Well, apparently they did. I had always drawn anthropomorphic animals since I was little because I couldn't draw humans very well. Actually, I just plain wasn't a very good artist then. I had only drawn for my own amusement, really. Nothing serious. I didn't think anything I had would be worth spending money on, but with encouragement, I dug through my sketchbooks and I submitted a few pieces to the dealers den table.
We didn't do very well, but I did sell ONE print. Just one. For $2. I thought, "Hey, somebody actually BOUGHT my artwork!"
The rest is history. From then on, I poured myself into my work and learning new techniques. I started up some comics which people actually LIKED. I met a whole bunch of neat new friends and have had a lot of fun since, and here I am almost 10 years later. :)
Yeah, I've decided that I am going to redraw them. The good news about this is, I've ordered a Wacom Cintiq which will arrive next week, so now I can switch to doing the comic completely digitally. This will cut down on a HUGE amount of time it takes to create a strip by an hour or so. Barring data loss or computer failure, I won't have to worry about losing artwork anymore. Not to mention not having to deal with buying art supplies and saving money on that.
Will we get a lunch together in the middle of the Atlantic ocean that would be halfway between you and me, someday? 'cause I'd love to chat with you real life :3,

Updike is so fun to write for. ^_^
Granted, now I want to see the alternate reality Ace Rimmer of Updike.
Of course, can't mention Goalpost head without thinking of the Munchkin song... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9-CG6gCrPYM

But Italy is on my list of places to go in the world and I would dearly love to have lunch with you. :)
