If you were given access to a time machine, when would you go, and why?
One thing I think I'd enjoy is heading back to investigate the early days of the world's religions - does the appearance of flooding myths in various religions speak of a genuine event, or was it merely a parable? Were these accounts independent, or do they have their origins in the same writer?
Seeing the real Buddha, Jesus, Mohammad, and Lao-Tsu might be quite interesting, as well. (I subscribe to no religion or gods, but the evolution of religions through time, as they spread from their origins, sometimes being co-opted by others, or serving as inspiration for newer civilisations, as with the Egyptian pantheon inspiring that of Ancient Greece, and then, more directly, Rome)
