What's camp like anyway...?

Hmm, it's like...you're really excited but then you get on the bus and don't know anyone around you and the girl next to you looks unable to practice proper hygiene or make attractive choices in hats, and she's just kind of in the corner looking away so you don't even talk to her, and you just sit there listening to music and staring at people for a long time. But then you finally get off the bus and are told to go to this location called the tabernacle, and you think for a moment about how awesome the word "tabernacle" is, then you go sit down and the teachers introduce themselves and you think, 'oh, they are so charming, especially that one with the stereotypically gay-sounding voice.' Then you go find your cabin and meet the people in it and quickly draw conclusions about what kind of person they are, and judge them immediately. Then you also meet the cabin leader and decide if you think she's cool or not, and you put your stuff somewhere and claim a bed and make small talk with your cabinmates. Eventually you meet up with the rest of your MPG and once again judge them and stare at the really tall skinny attractive hipster in sunglasses, and probably play some kind of bonding game, which you find rather stupid but the joy of the moment causes you to join your MPG brethren in small fits of laughter as the merriment progresses. This is basically repeated for two more days, with many breaks to wander aimlessly and interact with others, and time made for food that you know isn't all that great, but the variety of it and the fact that you're starving and they have a soda machine as well as any kind of tea you could desire makes you appreciate your meals immensely. Stir in some seemingly pointless classes, long-going showcases at night, an outdoor movie viewing, far too many messages about saving the planet, struggles to plan who in your cabin showers when, and a possibility of your sleeping bag or pillow falling off the top bunk as you sleep, and that is camp. At least, in my experience.

Bring snacks. Or you will die at night when you're not allowed to leave the cabin.

HAHA! I've seen a couple people like that at the tour thing... They were really into their anime... One of them was wearing a Naruto hat.

Subconsciously judging? Hahaha, no one likes to admit it... But everyone does it.. Whether they want to or not...

I love tea; chai tea, English breakfast tea...and green tea especially... It helps my anxiety and calms me down. :) I hope they have some.... Should I bring a lot of quarters... Or do they hand them out for free?

What IS a hipster if I may ask? Everyone is like WE HAVE SO MANY HIPSTERS HERE.... ARE YOU A HIPSTER? But I don't know how to answer... God, are hipsters like, dangerous or something? Should I be worried?

Yeah, there's enough anime kids that Sakura-Con seems like some kind of national event because you start to hear a bunch of different people discussing the urgency of completing their cosplay in time.

There's a ton of tea, all for free with yo meals. But I recommend bringing money anyway because there is a little store that sells heavenly Italian sodas and flavored coffees and other crazy shit. It's delicious.

Hipsters take on many different forms. The most hipsterish hipsters are very well-dressed, attractive, skinny, pretentious, take artistic photos, listen to obscure music, smoke too much, are committed to one particular coffee shop, and are often douchebags. That was a lot of stereotypes, though. Generally, any artsy-looking indie kid can (jokingly or not) be called a hipster and SOTA definitely has a lot of hipsters. I call it going to hipster school. I think hipsters are pretty rad because they're super attractive and fun to make jokes about. But hipsters can be assholes.

Maaaan sometimes they can bejerks. One came into my work and helped himself behind our jewelry/collectable counter. He acted all offended when we told him he couldnt be back there. Then they each put a trinket in their pocket/purse and left.

I work at a salvation army. People who give attitude or steal are just penny pinching....
