I guess it was inevitable. I mean they did Nya-Nya Fender and every other stupid fad that came along and everyone obsessed over briefly before moving on with their lives.
I never get to see the banner due to my settings. However, you got me to turn the settings off and, well, I am amused at the "Back to School" element they are shooting for. Reminds me a lot of a show called "Azumanga Daioh!", which follows a group of High School girls in Japan from their first year to graduation. It's a goofy anime and is more like a PG rated sitcom of how crazy High School life can be.
*Sigh* I miss so much due to my visual settings. :(
I just saw it. I like the new MLP personally as it is quite creative and, well, I was a bit of a fan when I was 4, going on 5, years old. As I noted above, the "Denial is Magic" is something that could mistaken. People can have a hard time thinking of themselves as "furries" and, for those not familiar with MLP, it could be a bit of a way of making things rougher.
MLP is a rehash from the early 90's and perhaps earlier as mid 80's as popular little girl toys. There are even older cartoon movies out there my little step sister had. I kinda remember that they were turned into dragons by some evil entity. But that's ancient history. Grown guys wanna watch little girly TV shows it's all good to me. I just really don't have a desire to watch.
But on the conspiracy side of things....With it being so catchy to grown men? How do I know its not some subliminal on the air hypno brain washing thing like Barney (B'harnee the evil purple overlord) was? :) Had a little nephew so into Barney back in the day he'd watch and sit so still and a little bit of drool would hang out his mouth and his eyes were so glazed. Turn it off he'd freak out! Show ended he'd cry. Total creep factor there. :)
Normally I would just shrug it off and say "Not really my thing." This, however, has proven to be controversial. A lot of people don't seem to like it. The banner is getting a lot of negative feedback in various journal entries.

Don't knock it til ya try it ;)
Kind of seems like an insult in a way. The whole "Denial is Magic" can be easily mistaken.
