Fire! Fire! Pants is a liar! 85th Journal

This is my head.
Wow, it's been so dry here that several wildfires flared up including six major ones in seven days. A big one hit the grassy field behind the building where I work last Sunday. Around 125 acres burned and it got within 100 yards of the propane tanks out back plus the 50-gal barrels of gasoline. Good think the fire retardant from the helicopters halted the progress of the flames. Got close... too close for comfort.
Lots of homes near where the fire started could have gone up in flames too but was spared as well. A witness stated that a buzzard with something like a squirrel in its beak landed on a power pole and touched a pair of wires, causing the sparks that ignited the fire on the ground. Not sure that really happened but the area around here is so dry that it wouldn't take much at all set off a fire like that.
Just north of town hosted a huge wildfire that took out over 1500 homes, engulfing a few thousand acres. Nothing like that here though the fires have been at record levels. However, we finally got a few rains of on/off rain. Not a huge amount but enough to give most areas a good soak. Plus the cold front dipped the temperature down from the mid 90s (°F) to 66°F. We had numerous record setting + triple digits days so that certainly helped things. Supposedly it will shower some more during the week as we are still far short of our average amount of the wet stuff, less than half at one point.

At least your workplace is fine.
But about the workplace, we are in the process of moving into a new facility. Some parts of our workforce already set up there but there are some construction of offices and such going on still. The plan is to fully shift from the 3 current buildings to the one, much larger place. The new location is also much nicer too. The only bad thing is that is it all the way side of town from me and my wings going to be extra tired flying there on the workdays. I just going to up my dietary intake to have enough energy for the trips.
