MARCHING BAND YEAH WOO

Uhh, our season's going alright! Thr front ensemble is having a problem with stubbornness and respecting my authority as section leader, the winds are having a hard time with their music (come ON, guys, it's not that hard at all just play your parts asdfgjkl), and we have our last BOA Regional in a week.

BOA? Oh wow my university (Stephen F. Austin State University) is marching this weekend (Saturday) after the competition in Conroe TX.

I guess see you there in a sense X3....i suppose X3

Sounds fun! We went to BOA my freshman year, but haven't gone since. It was in St. George, Utah, that year.

We normally go to a few up in Ohio or Pennsylvania. They're really awesome, we won two Class A Champion medals last year :3

Getting our last charts in our third movement! We have a lot of memorization to do for this piece, but the other two movements a great! We also have a contest next saturday, oh boy!

Everyone seems to be starting season way later than we did. :u Band camp was in august for us and we got all of our sets and music then. Our last tournament is in three weeks.

We just finished learning our show so we put it to music tonight at rehearsal. Being a senior this saddens me, but we have our first tournament in a few weeks.

Where do you live? I find it kind of weird how late in season everyone is starting. Our season ranged from the beginning of august to the middle of october, but we get our music in may and june.

I didn't know bands started this late either. Our band camp started in late July and we got our music in May.

I wish i was in Marching Band, The closest Marching band for college is Fresno state and Literally all they do is Over Blow their instruments. It sound So bad, I refuse to join that marching band because of how bad it is.

Ewww, that really sucks. The college bands around here aren't too bad. Idaho State University tries really hard to be good, and the Brigham Young University band sounds amazing, but I'd never attend.

lol, My mate is in Idaho State and I want to be there, But one of the best college Marching band I seen is Cal State or Riverside Community College.

If what you say about Fresno State is true, it is enough to get my blood boiling!

Seach Fresno State Marching Band on youtube. Their colorguard and marching is fine. It their playing that kills it for me. It sounds horrible.

It sounds like a cat dying, which I know how it sounds unfortunely. Im still scared for life. In case your wondering, when I was 5 i push my clothing rank in the backyard and it landed on my cat and died... Did I mention I got blood all over me too? Yeah...not something I can forget.

I've seen their playing and it does sound horrible; I've heard better sounds from even the smaller D-II school bands such as the Lion Pride Band of Missouri Southern State University, in Joplin, MO (where I'm attending college).

I know, that why I refuse to go to their marching band. I want to Join Riverside Community College Marching band, that would be a ton of fun, but from the looks of how things are going now. I won't be in any marching band anymore.

Alas, those things happen.

I wish I could be in a marching band but Fresno City College stop doing marching band and I don't think University of Pacific has a Marching Band

Glad to hear you like the concept of a marching band even if where you are going doesn't have one.

Are you kidding? My high school, Clovis West High School got first placed at the Bands of America Regional Champion in St. George Utah 2011. You might be able to buy a DVD of the performance if you really wish to see it. I'm saving up money to buy it, Senior year, very important to me.

We remade Eric Whitacre "Ghost Train" for a marching band show..... IT...... WAS...... EPIC!!! I wish I could play it again.

I posted a youtube link in the last journal. We are heading to regionals (ISSMA, high school lvl) on the 15th

Cleaning up a bunch of stuff before our second competition a week from Saturday. We don't do anything fancy like regionals or BOA, but we have some rivalries with other schools in our area.

Our show is Bach-themed this year, so the Drum Majors get to dress up all fancylike. This video is from two weeks ago at our first (and so far only) competition, and a lot of stuff has been changed and fixed! And just a warning that captains and leaders went on to the video and added annotations of stuff that went wrong. Please turn them off for full enjoyment!

Let's see... First band review two weeks ago, 1st place band, 1st place colorguard, 2nd place military drum major, 4th place overall drum line... I think we did pretty well for our first time even though we messed up super bad. xD

I just got back from band practice. So far we're kinda good. 2 more weeks until an invitational and we have to get our third sheet done and cleaned by them x///x

we haven't even finished our third movement. because we got our drill late. i hate our show, over 30 props... BIG props.

Marching band's going pretty well. I gotta say, from just the music alone, it's AMAZING! Our show's called "Tribal Warriors" It does have a theme of africa, using the main themes of Robert W Smith's "Africa: Ceremony Song and Ritual" as the first and second movements, as well as Lion King parts for the fourth, and Circle of Life as the finisher. We're nearly done with our first movement, and have our first presentation of it to the parents tomorrow. We got so many awesome props! The color guard has huge 6-foot bamboo poles for guard work during out second movement, and the band will be getting 5-foot PVC pipes, meant to represent spears, as a visual effect for thrid movemet, our drum break. Best thing is, we got a Trombone solo in the fourth movement, and we have a total prodigy of a musician playing it. Low brass fans out there, he's a boss. He's gotta play sounds as high as an octave up high D. That's the D five ledger lines above the staff. Yeah, awesome.
