Fairy-filled Childhood
My childhood has always been one full of fairy tales. I would often sneak into my mother's closet and "borrow" some of her elaborate shawls and bits of jewelry and roam around the house as a fairy princess for that day.
My interest in fairies really started when I saw the movie Thumbelina by Don Bluth. It instilled in me the idea that someone like me, an extremely tiny and rather insignificant person, could one day sprout a pair of wings and join the faeries as a pretty-pretty princess and be swept off my feet by a fairy prince. A few years later when I was seven, the movie Fairy Tale by Charles Sturridge came out. As a kid, I was blown away and it rekindled my longing for a pair of wings of my own.
Those ideas never left me. And discovering the Otherkin community helped me to strengthen my identity as the fairy I had always known I was. I've grown a lot more confident and am even planning on pursuing a life as a professional faerie as a side job to my artwork. Never felt better.

rowynnHow many of you have childhood stories to tell about fairies? Any particular experiences, dreams (nightmares?), wishes, movies, books?
