Take a look through my eyes: See like me!
I am colourblind, which is unusual for my sex - the gene is carried on both my x chromosomes. Only in the last three years did I actually realize this (yes I know I'm a bit slow on the uptake). Unusually, I can see almost every colour fine, except red. I don't see it well. I cannot see shades of red, and if an orange or pink is too close to red I just can't make it out.
Thanks to very helpful, understanding friends, I've figured out (I think) the extent of my colourblindness, but I sometimes still have "wtf is that REALLY two different shades?" moments. For example I recently bought a red v-neck shirt, and a friend of mine said to me "you know that's a striped shirt, right?" I had no fucking idea. This is the shirt. If I really focus, I can see there's a lighter tinge in the stripes, but it takes a lot of concentration. I don't see it with just a quick look-over.
Now, thanks to an awesome program, I can show you all what reds look like to me.
I really like this cake. Now, the way I see red is sort of faded, I guess you'd say. It's greyish, kinda bland, a really relaxed, laid-back colour. This simulation adds green colourblindness which I don't think I have (I can see shades and the colour just fine, I believe), and the red has a bit of yellow in it, but otherwise it looks almost identical in both pictures for me, so hopefully that'll really get across just what I see.
So, there you go. Feel free to make fun of me!

My friends younger brother has rod monochromancy, so he can't see any colours at all- just different shades. I think grey, if I understand it right.
I really wish I could see what red is really like, it sounds beautiful.
Whoa, that's super rare. Must suck for him 3:
Although of course there are different shades, like any other colour. But that is the stereotype jist of it. :3
Personally I like blue, purple and green best. Red is too much. :>
And yeah, I would hate to see the world without colour. But he's a fantastic writer and he's got the most wonderful imagination, so I don't think it matters too much in the end.
Poor kid's got so many other severe problems though, I think colourblindness is the least of them. :c He's a good kid.
Remember when I cut myself at your house and I was like "oh cool" staring at my blood and playing with my finger?
That also happened when my hand was broken. Before the pain set in I was like "lol I can see my joints."
It must look to you the way it smells to everyone.
Also Red Robins is a very boisterous atmosphere, not laid back at all, but we've already talked about that. This colour thing is really interesting.
