:) I was brushing up to start teaching piano after Christmas, and figured I may as well post some of my stuff online :b

I so miss Music Theory classes. Been keeping up with these on dA, and they make me feel very nostalgic of when I was learning so many years ago (and now I feel old, bah!). Anyway, I feel like they would serve beginners well~ It is really awesome of you to go through the trouble to make them. C:

Yeah, I've been naughty lately and haven't been doing my self-assigned harmony homework :b I'll get around to it eventually... but to be honest, I could really use the brush-up. I never properly learned Harmony - what normally takes a good year or two to learn, I crammed into a month's crash course by a teacher who liked teaching by example only, rather than by giving me the actual rules. x_x

And yeah, it's hard for me to remember what it was like learning music! I learned how to read music back when some kids still didn't know how to read words. :b And yes, it makes me feel old XD

I probably spent more time than I "should" have on them (I did a by-hand version as well, which is where most of the diagrams come from), so I essentially did this twice x_x.

That's a very nice tutorial, actually! Wish I'd had these images handy back when I was learning, might have helped me through the basics a bit quicker. :P

It can be hard to strike a balance between too many images, and too few. Sometimes there will be too many illustrations that just make things seem more confusing than they are, and other times there aren't enough to demonstrate what you mean :b

That is a nice idea of teaching others how to learn the piano... I am a pianist myself and wanting to teach others in my city how to play. any ideas or tips you want to give to me???

To be honest, I'm not quite sure how to get started myself. A lot of student pianists begin teaching in their later years, and their own personal teachers often instruct them on how to get started. I haven't had a piano teacher in many years, so my "networking" is very limited. Perhaps try posting ads around town and on a local Craigslist or similar service?

I haven't taught in a long time, but I have a student lined up for after Christmas - basically, she's someone I know from an old job.

That's very cool, thanks for posting that! Now if only I had access to a piano...

Yeah, it's a problem :b I've been without a piano for five years, I only just recently managed to get my piano back.
