Our local breeder has a line going with poly as a dominance.

Do poly's come with any extra health issues?

I don't think so. The breeder didn't mention any. I can't imagine why it would. It's just like humans or cats or any other animal that it occurs in. They just have an extra digit, that's all.

Cats are especially prone to poly.

Certain recessive genes are linked to health issues. Hopefully if poly was linked to something your breeder would have told you.

Yeah, I'm sure she would have. She runs a pet shop but she really loves her rats. She's very knowledgeable and has given us free babies/discounts because she wants to make sure they go to good homes. That and she breeds her own personal pets.

But yeah I also learned about the gene in Anthropology. As far as I know, it has no ill-effects. Except maybe sucking ass if you get arthritis. xD

And my dad's cat had poly. Never bothered her so far as I know. She lived to be 11.

It means they have extra toes/fingers. My boys have extra thumbs on all their feet. xD

Boo was the stupidest rat I've ever met. >_> But he was a sweetheart and he would just sit forever in my lap, or on my shoulder. I could pretty much take him anywhere or let him run around anywhere knowing he wouldn't destroy everything like most of my girls would.

She has a white belly and the blaze, but the blaze isnt full its a lightning blaze.

I had 5.
4 of them were pure nightmares and have given me a sort of a grudge on rats (but I still swear against any abuse on them - I will never harm any animal unless I absolutely have to, rodents/"pests" included) but my very first rat I still have a place in my heart for and I only knew him a short time.

Their brother Jose, an agouti, passed away on Easter 2011 unfortunately. No illness just... one minute he was walking around fine, then next, gone.

Morta - hairless 9 months

In my gallery I have a picture of Morta right after we got our little girls. Very sweet naked ladies, I love them.

We'll probably get more boys, after our 'grumpy old men' pass away. At current though, we're just enjoying our boys for as long as we have them.
