Turns out that I knew the man - he used to wave at me every day as he rode by on his bicycle. I'm going to miss that. He was really nice. I feel so bad for his parents, who he lived with and cared for. My own sister made a comment that really hurt me. She said I should be happy that it didn't happen inside my house - my daughter said the only murder that would happen in my house would be one of the cats, as a joke, and my sister responded by saying " or your mom". Gee, nice to know how my own big sister feels about me. I've been scared all day, and that kind of thing is just really hurtful. I hurt for the parents. To lose a child, right before xmas...
They said that he was a registered sex offender by Megan's Law, that he was charged with intent to commit a specific sex crime - but that was many many years ago, and he was a nice person. I don't care what people think - a loss of life is always bad.
