deviantART condones art theft!
well, enough is enough! it's been a week and nothing has been done! i watch an artist over on furaffinity by the name of rukis, and she's been doing a comic called red lantern. and yes, it is about what the name suggests. a week ago, somebody decided to join dA under the name redlantern-comic, [link] and of course, somebody noticed this and told rukis about it right away. this is NOT rukis, and in fact, rukis made a journal in which she said that this wasn't her, that they were a thief, and that she didn't have and won't get a dA account. [link] myself, and quite a few others reported this account for art theft, and identity theft, including linking them to that journal. deviant art staff replied a day later, this is what they said:
" Thank you for contacting deviantART, I will be assisting you with your support ticket.
Claims of Copyright Infringement can only be legally filed by the actual copyright owner of the infringed work or by their legally authorized representative. Since you are not the owner or an authorized representative your notice on this matter is not considered to be legally valid and cannot be acted upon so your ticket will be marked as "Solved" in order to clear it from the queue; please contact the actual copyright owner(s) so that they can file a valid claim with us if they so choose.
While you cannot file a valid claim of copyright infringement in this particular case, as a member of deviantART you are able to use the Moderation system which can be accessed by clicking the 'Report Deviation' link found on every deviation page in order to point out to our staff that there may be permissions issues with certain deviations, but please understand that these Moderation reports will not be treated as a valid claim of infringement and will not receive the same type of response or attention.

i then told them that people were requested to report it, and that there are legal consequences to allowing them to stay on, which they have completely ignored. so, enough is enough, if deviantart doesn't want to do anything, then people need to know. make sure that any artists you know who don't use deviantart know that their art isn't safe, because the site won't protect your rights unless you have an account here.

I don't see anything wrong with how they are handling it. Can imagine how many false claims and such they get. They just want something official before they take it down.

OP
like i said, i linked them to two pieces in her gallery, the same two pieces in the thief's gallery, and her journal saying that it isn't her

And you are not the artist. They will take it down, just need to go through the legal way of doing it.

the artist won't use dA, again, i told them this, i showed them the journal that she wrote that said this

That doesn't matter at all actually. Either way, they explained why they wouldn't act on what you said. I'm sure there is an email they can be reached at, or there is other ways of her handling it.

I have never liked DA's "Holier then Thou" attitude anyways, They do not allow "Porn" but I agree they condone art theft, I do not go there
