Still a big ass hole in it. Since my last journal there have been two industrial fans blowing upward in an attempt to dry out the wood so the workers could repair the damage. Probably would be easier if it wasn't frosting over almost every night. We had to move everything out of the livingroom. So now we have a nearly empty half of the house while the two parrots, Crow, I and two computers squish into our bedroom, so that the rest of our house can be shoved into any vacant space remaining. I feel like I've fallen into the junkyard in Labyrinth.
The repair crew keeps dropping off materials too. Drywall, insulation, a ladder, trash cans. Considering no serious repair work has been done (stupid snow and its cursed wetness), it's disheartening, though it is a nice opportunity to check out the materials they'll be using in the repairs. At least we're upgrading in that respect.
Needless to say, it's been an interesting week. At least they took away the fans this morning. Those dang things are super loud. So loud it makes the floor vibrate from EVERY room in the house. The vibration part I don't mind so much, but that constant blowing is like living inside a jet engine. Another reason it's nice to be in the bedroom -- we can close the door to block out the deafening fans.
I am so glad those are gone. They've been blowing for so long, every time I leave the room I'm shocked by how quiet it is. I can once again hear sounds coming from OUTSIDE the apartment now! Woo Hoo!
Fortunately my desk is small (like me) and it's been wheeled into a corner where I'm out of the way and can write. There WILL be a story before this month is out! It is happening. I'm determined.
Since I've gotten on that topic, I should get back to it. I'm very close to finishing this next story. It's so close I can see the end of it -- almost taste it (if tasting thoughts were possible).
I can't believe the year's almost over! I'm excited to see what next year will bring.
Happy Holidays to all you wonderful watchers and readers out there!
