I've had a whirlwind few days. I got down to Alabama for the funeral with my brother on Tuesday, the funeral was Wednesday, and we flew back home on Thursday. I was a pallbearer for my grandfather's coffin along with the rest of the grandkids. I'm glad I decided to forgo wearing nice shoes that day and just wore my black sneakers, because that infamous Alabama red clay mud was good and slippery.

The services when beautifully and although it was sad, it was great getting to see my family again. Afterwards we all sat down to lunch and had a blast laughing, talking, catching up, and telling stories. My grandmother, even through severe dementia, was a kick to see and talk to again.

So, even with the sad occasion, I also had a great time. I know that Granddad would have been really happy with that.

So I'm back home now and it's Christmas Eve. I'm feeling under the weather because of stress and being crammed on planes with lots of germy people, so I'm busy staving off a cold. But that's OK. I've got my family, the lights on the tree, and a really nommy bowl of tortellini alfredo with Italian chicken sausage. Tomorrow will be roast beast, Yorkshire pudding, and spinach souffle! :9
