Don't usually get into these sorts of things, but SOPA is pretty bullshit and we're getting down to the wire. Here's a good rant to inspire people further.
Yeah, me too... I suppose on a bright side though we'd have some kick ass parties in jail cause all these normal people are gonna be in there now. But wait, shit, where are we gonna find the room for the entire population of the world? That's one big ass jail and a lot of tax dollars. Wait shit! All the tax payers are in jail. Oops.
Yup the bills been changed to 'lessen' it already..... the goverment is going to try and get it passed in one form or another sadly.... i say it needs to be down right shot and put out but people also need to remember the other bills like PIPA that are just as dangerous
Yeah its a fun tactic, coming up with these things in multiples. One takes the heat and is changed around and draws all the attention while the other one slips in. Hope that's not the case here.
Despite being in Canada, I've signed the petition to the State Department. Anything created that gives large conglomerates and deeply corrupted governments filled with CEO's ability to abuse and twist the law is a very, very bad idea. Especially when it practically wages wars on other countries by asking to pluck citizens from their ranks and put on a witch hunt against them. Given how gung-ho our Government is to kiss the ass of the U.S. leaders, they'll gladly turf over citizens for lucrative trade deals.
I hate sounding like a conspiracy theorist too, but its starting to become more and more apparent that some seriously insane shit is going to go down when/if this thing is passed in its current form.
Well SOPA is losing steam from it's supporters now, though I can't help but wonder if that isn't cause of the people's reaction. But like final wolf said, there's still PIPA which is just as damning and for some reason just as unnoticed, so who knows, maybe we'll see the insane shit. I'm certainly up for it.
Considering SOPA and PIPA both directly violate the 1st and 10th Amendments (The two largest in personal freedoms); it should have been struck down immediately.
Think it was suppose to go back up for vote on the 17th. We were promised a veto though if there were enough signatures, and the last I heard I think it was like double the number needed, but it's still something that should continue to be argued against till it's good and dead.
Remember Jackson from the wrongside forum? Well, I once talked to him about SOPA and he is convinced its gonna get passed, regardless of signatures and how many people are against it.
As long as the lawmakers want it through, they will push it through, fuck everyone else's feelings and opinions.
Well like I said above though, it's losing steam from some of it's supporters both from the political arena and from some of the businesses that might have liked to see it pass. More than likely just covering their asses from people bringing it up later, but still good news for us.
I do know the ones supporting the bill, from the business side, are those 4 major companies, which would make them the sole rulers if the bill gets passed, so people might decide to stop buying from them as revenge.
At least, I bloody well hope they now realizing it.
...and speaking of those four major players... With Sony backing it, they would gain the power to circumvent things like the EULA and the contract clause of 'voiding warranty'. (By disassembling one of their items after purchase, one voids the Warranty; nothing more. So long as they are not attempting to reverse-engineer the device for their own gain; it's all good.) With SOPA; Kitsune Kustoms would be shut down with extreme prejudice. >.>

i made my arguments already here http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/3013577/
hopefully people start getting at this more
Either way all bills like those two i think need to be shot, ripped run over and burned till nothing is left.

Ultimate Irony: Gov't Passes SOPA = Apocalypse 2012
Go figure.
As long as the lawmakers want it through, they will push it through, fuck everyone else's feelings and opinions.
Hope he's wrong.
