Sands of time with all that grime. 90th Journal.

This is my head.
I am sure no one noticed but as of Jan. 6, I been on FA for 5 years. Almost all of last year as been terrible for me though not the worse but still a big downer. I won't go into details as it is pretty boring but I am glad 2011 is finally over. I am looking forward to a better year as my luck is bound to change. I just gotta. *Lips quivering.*
My art output of last year been horrible as well, less than a pawful of submissions. One of my New Year resolutions is to be proactive in increasing my art workflow. That might take a while as I am currently remodeling the kitchen area with my brother helping. We didn't get all that much done over the holidays as there was a bunch of bad structure in the utility room to replace much less doing the changes we planned out (for years). Old water damage (with some of it caused by termites along with incorrect work by someone we hired years ago).
I already got the new and much larger electrical panel installed. The old one was 125 Amps and 24 circuits that was stuffed to the max. The new is 200 Amps with 40 circuits, plenty room for future expansion. We are also going with a tankless water heaters. The current tank one is taking up way too much room. Most of the preparation are done for the tankless unit but a new wall needs to be put up for the smaller utility room.
After all that, we'll finally will get to the future larger kitchen itself (hence the shrinking utility room). That part going to be interesting. Probably subcontract out the tile work though as the dining room and living area going to get the same floor treatment as well. The carpet in the other too rooms are very old and had better days. Some nice tile not only last longer (much much longer) but looks so much better to boot.
Going to be a big undertaking indeed but taking it one step at a time should smooth things out. I guess we'll see how smooth or rough it is going to be soon enough.

It is indeed a lot of work but the results will be worth it I am sure. The original design of the place is not all that inefficient and squanders a lot of the potential space. The dining room used to be so closed off when the house was built and so dark even in the day. Many many years ago, my dad put in two skylights and got rid of the doors along with opening up the what was the doorways. Now we plan to open it up even more, really taking advantage of the size of that room that is pretty much wasted as it sits now.
But it is a long away from that and things will be adjusted along the way. Just taking it one (or two... or three) steps at a time. The flooring is going to be a huge project when that comes around. I am hoping to break that up in a few stages. I want to do the kitchen, utility room and living room first and then the hallway with the dining room last. The kind of tiles is still up in the air but definitely going to be some sort of tile. The old carpet is out of there. Tile is going to last forever and much easier to clean. Plus throw carpets can still be used to give that cozy feel. I twill going to cost more but once again, well worth it. I don't mind spending a little extra to get much better stuff.
