B. It won't happen. People have been trying this same crap for years with different reasons as to why they will censor the internet. Worst of all you really think the government is dumb enough to give control over our information highway, to the corporations who royally fucked the economy.

They said the NDAA wouldn't pass, because it sacrificed too many American civil liberties and Obama initially said he wouldn't sign it. Yet here it is, signed into law. Yes, the government is dumb enough to give control to corporations, because Congress has been paid 94 million dollars to vote yes to this. So they're set.

If this stuff is true then what would protesting accomplish, it won't buy out the 94 million price tag

Yeah, in part. The banks are only some of the corporations that are the cause of it. Just remember that this is a global phenomenon. The credit rating agencies (I mean the ones like Standard & Poors and Moody's) are also to blame, convincing foreign investors that a package of these junk mortgages had a AAA rating.

Why is everyone so worked up about SOPA and not about NDAA?

Because with NDAA passed, if SOPA were to pass next, all of rights are GONE, INCLUDING FREE SPEECH. So when you get arrested without due process, you have NO RIGHT to remain silent, YOU WILL BE SILENT.

I wrote my congresswoman, and told her my thoughts and to vote NO on SOPA/PIPA

I used the exact text from Wikipedia's front page with some of my own thoughts and sent it to her.

They put the onus on website owners to police user-contributed material and call for the blocking of entire sites, even if the links are not to infringing material. Small sites will not have the sufficient resources to mount a legal challenge. Without opposition, large media companies may seek to cut off funding sources for small competing foreign sites, even if big media are wrong. Foreign sites will be blacklisted, which means they won't show up in major search engines.

I've done more than Just post a stop SOPA and PIPA, I've joined Wikipedia and shut down Marshal Radio X for the day and I'm hopeing other Internet radio stations will follow suit.

Well, I heard that SOPA is on shelves indefinitely. Just PIPA is the only one left cause PIPA took over SOPA. Need to get rid of PIPA completely.

I think you know I've very useful with my words. That is why I e-mailed everyone, from mayor of my town to my senator hove kept track of for the last 15 years. Yes. I mailed them all as I have spoken with them in the past of issues ranging from the garbage on our streets to the crisis of the economy. They reply back, for the governor and senator, they often do. I'd like to think you neighbor states of CT has a voice in the matter against it, but I know these weasels. They'll think that any enforcement on how we live our lives "clean" is good for their benefit to stay in office, an excuse for being an idealist. But, I know how to deal with deluded, constipated type that live in their own world. Yes. I wrote to all of them. And they're not going to hear the last of me, ask I will talk to them, some face to face.

NDAA = gives the president the right to detain and assassinate people. (almost no reaction).

SOPA = gives the government the right to control the internet. (OMGZ NO ONE MEZZEZ WHIF MA INTERNETZ!! WE NED TO ORGANISE!!!!)

That's sadly only because most people know how it'd effect them internet wise. The NDAA well... it's already done, but they won't show it's true power until somebody declares martial law. Until then, we'll only have smalltime national effects, like disappearing protesters, etc.

I found out about the NDAA on the day it went through (thanks to  jibade posting here); I knew about SOPA, just because it has wider-ranging implications. SOPA is giving a handful of US special interests the right to ride roughshod over the legal systems of sovereign nations.

I really think people have missed the point of alot of sites going black today in protest. Especially Wikipedia. It's sad to see people complaining the site is down and treating it like the end of the f'n world cause they can't do their homework and when told to visit a library they complain its useless cause Wikipedia is down there too. (Seriously. Someone on twitter said this...)
