You're never too old to learn. Hell, maybe one day when I'm established and have money, or retired, I'll go back and learn something new. I love to learn, so why should I stop when I'm 60, 70, 99?

Never too old. If an age gap being obvious in a classroom setting bothers you then you might consider taking classes online. I had some uneasiness in my lower level classes being 3-5 years older than everyone else in there but I did eventually get over it when I realized that there is no real upper end on when furthering education is a good thing.

Depends what you're going there for, if you're figuring out 'what you want to do with your life' probably 30? if you're going in for a specific class and education plan because you know you're interested in x/y/z then there's no limit. My own mom went back to school in her mid to late 40s, albeit that was university.

Well, in this sense I'm fairly sure that university = college. Typically a 4 year affair after high school.

Yeah in that case it's never too late to go or go back so long as you have something in mind, 'exploring your interests' college I think should be something more reserved for the young since you should have an idea what you're interested in at 30 or more. I wouldn't be surprised if I change my mind on that though.

Funny cuz in most of my classes the majority of people are much older. Usually not sixty I guess, but you shoulda seen the wrinkles on these bitches, old in life experience if not in years.

I'd say you're never too old. I know a couple 70+ that go to my college.

When I was in school, I regularly saw people of all ages, from folks who looked younger than me to people who looked like they were grandparents. Higher education knows no age bracket. Yes, there is the predominant demographic, but it doesn't mean it's the only one. I respect anyone who goes to college and follows through the whole way. In many ways, it's harder when you're older because you think you already know or you might be too set in your ways or you might have other demands on you time or you feel intimidated by the younger crowd or any of a myriad of other reasons. I give props to anyone who goes back after so much time. I had a year-long gap between my college experiences... I almost didn't go back.

I'd say that it depends on the reasons you're going to college, and the type of degree you're getting. I've known people who went back to college because they were bored, and they usually didn't do too well. I've also known people who were genuinely interested in a career change, and many of them did quite well.

My opinion is that the only point at which it's too late to learn something new, through school of any kind or other method, is when you have lost the ability to retain that learning for a meaningful period of time. I did one semester at a local place and saw people there with white hair, as in Leslie Nielsen in the 90s kind of white hair, studying some of the same classes. Any time one wants to take on the challenge of learning something, I say go for it!

Never. College isn't an age thing.

Age only affects your social standing during your education, and if you're really there to learn that shouldn't matter at all.

Also, there was a 30+ guy in my film class and he was the coolest guy there. We also had a 40+ mother that became one of the most respected directors by the faculty, so much so she was removed from our class for special one-on-one training. So if anything my experience proves age helps you get noticed/respected.

Never too old I think. Got friends that go to my college that are in their 30's and 40's, I know another that is in their 50's trying to get a nursing degree.

I know 50-yr-olds in college for whom it seems like the right choice. If you're there for a reason, you can't be too old.

One class I took in college, the youngest student was 18, and the oldest was 71.

So if you haven't guessed, my answer is that you're NEVER too old for college.

Based on personal experience, a person is too old for college when they get tired of jumping through the procedural hoops involved just to get grades.

Im pretty sure this one guy in my basic geology class is in his late 40's maybe 50's, or else he always hung out in the sun when younger.

Last I checked, there was never an age limit on going to college, you just need the money to get in x3 at least I don't think there's any need for age limitations

You are never too old to back to school. I am about to graduate from college at the age of 46 with a bachelors degree in IT security systems. I am by far not the oldest in my school as there is 4 people far older than I am.

never too old for it. I have someone on campus who is 85 years old and still taking classes.

27. Once you hit that age, you should be starting your life. If you're in regular college still, then you're probably not going to be going to grad school, unless you were in the military of course. that's a totally different story.

Good thing I plan to graduate at 26 then.
