(Something I wrote in 2002 when I was playing Asheron's Call 2 as a Human Defender in an RP guild. Rereading it now, I feel kinda sad, it seemed particularly epic in my memory... Now I see it as too many grandiose words having been forced together.)


Hope is the foundation in which I stand with potency,
My shield the manifestation of its fortitude.

May I always and forever stand in defiance of despondency,
For I shall persevere until no heart is held within its servitude.

No assault physical or mental will shatter my defense,
I can not buckle whilst my heart stays true to character.

If I should be overwhelmed by forces immense,
I will be adamant in my conviction to never surrender.

Let my remains be a testament to hopes boundless resolution,
With body born aloft in honored dignity upon my shield.

To those that bear witness with kind or foul intention,
Know I endure in spirit even as I go beyond the battlefield.

Optimism an unremitting antidote to the ravaging blight,
One ember of hope amplified into an engulfing blaze.

That the promise of peace once instilled can carry on the fight,
With unabated fervor until the dawn surmounts the darkest haze.
