Pokemon Black 2 and Pokemon White 2?

So apparently the "big announcment" Junichi Masuda was going to make on Pokemon Smash is... Pokemon Black and Pokemon White 2?

This is certainly an odd surprise, but it seems like this is our "Gray Version", I suppose this actually would even explain why there was general denying of a "third version" and a "Gray Version" straight from Masuda himself.
It's even already been announced for the US at the very least: http://www.pokemon.com/us/pokemon-v.....ite-version-2/
Supposedly it will be out in Japan in June. I guess at this point my questions become, "Are these in place of a third version?", "Does this ruin our chances of a Ruby/Sapphire remake this generation?" and "What could they possibly add to Unova to make this a proper sequel?"
Of course there are other questions, and I'm definitely excited, but I do wonder what to expect here. This announcement was little more than that, an announcement. Though I do dig the Reshiram/Kyurem and Zekrom/Kyurem fusions.
