RT: ENOUGH ABOUT WHITNEY HOUSTIN (PLZ READ!!!)
Mr. White Tiger is so right about this; I had to figuratively re-tweet this Journal entry and some interesting comments (albeit late due to self-disorganization).
I pasted the Journal entry in order to remove profanity.
(By the way, if you are going to go to his Journal, please do not mention me. He hates me because I am a fundie.

Yes, its tragic she died. Yes, she will be missed. Yes, she will forever be loved.
But ya know what; She killed herself. Its her fault. She stupidly OD'ed on drugs, and she has no one to blame but herself.
This is what truly DISGUSTS me about our society. We pay all this attention to self induced celebrity deaths like this, because that is all the Media gives us, because that is what we want.
What about the loving Father of 3 who had a heart attack from the stress of working 2 jobs to keep a roof over his families head? Where is his recognition? Where is his public empathy? Where is his [cuss]ed moment of silence?
Or the 95 year old woman who died of natural causes, who lived her life in service to her fellow man; always doing volunteer work, donating to various charities, taking time and effort to help others every single day of her life. Where is her recognition? Where is the public empathy for her passing? Where is her [cuss]ing moment of silence?
Our society makes me SO [CUSS]ING SICK!!!
Pay a little more attention to the things that truly matter; to the people who [cuss]ing deserve your empathy and recognition.

Mr. White Tiger: "Reminds of what Chris Christie did. Lowering the flag for her...sickening. That is reserved for soldiers and HEROS"
Mr.
junowolf: "That's what that pic is in reference to. It's actually rather illegal (at least against U.S. flag code) to lower the flag for that."
Mr.
burnout-the-hedgehog: "I might just venture an opinion here - I know that perhaps the people you were talking about who didn't get recognition, but there's a reason that the whole world didn't pay their respects to them. They were only one small person, and albeit incredibly good people, the sad eventuality is that I didn't know them, and that they never touched my life. The important thing isn't worldwide recognition, at all, it's recognition by the people that matter, and I'm certain that those people got the recognition they deserved from those that were meant to give it. Whitney Houston however, yes I know, we're meant to hate celebrities because of the overpublicity, but in her lifetime her music touched the hearts of millions of people all over the world, god knows she's helped me at one time or another, that pretty much means that a lot of those millions feel like they have to pay their respects, and that's why she, and many other celebrities, get the large amount of media attention that they do - I don't think it's fair to get angry about it.
Still, that's just my opinion."
Mr.
CreedOfHeresy: "I agree with Burnout in this regard. Not to mention, as a former drug addict myself, I can safely say that getting stuck on drugs is usually something that is EXTREMELY difficult to break. It's very much a psychological addiction as much as it is the physical kind with a lot of those drugs, and Whitney Houston struggled quite a bit with her young life, yet managed to become successful through her talent [seriously, if all pop stars of today had HALF her talent, pop culture would be quite tolerable to me instead of it being the mind-cancer that it currently is]; that's pretty respectable.
That said, the fixation of the media upon her death is getting ridiculous, as it ALWAYS is when a celebrity dies. In this case, I suppose it's a little more justified because her story was pretty tragic. But for the most part, most celebrity-death-coverages are overblown, and they're starting to do it again. As someone who actually respected Whitney Houston and actually hoped she'd overthrow her addictions, her death [and especially its causes] is tragic and I'm getting sick of the media using her death as a ratings boost. [PORN PORN PORN]"

EDIT: Oops. I was so focused on removing profanity; I neglected to see the last two pornographic sentences.
I am so sorry...
