New Year Pains!
Well we started the year off with making the decision to stay in this snow laden, boring, no jobs city. The reason? We are at retirement age and its more important to have financial security, friends, medical care you trust, and a safety net. We have all of those here sorry to say. So we will go on regular trips to the coast to relieve the stress of living here and make the best of it.
And it's a good decision as my husband is forced to continue working past retirement to allow our middle daughter living with us, to have medical care. She requires therapy and is trying to get on SSI. Until she succeeds, he will have to keep working. I just underwent another operation...this time gall bladder surgery. It went well and I'm fully recovered. My recheck of my belly to see if the kidney cancer was completely cleared from removal of tumor in 2010, uncovered a spot on my other kidney. *sigh* Now I have to wait and watch to see if this turns into something serious. Hopefully not! My other need is to have cataract surgery on my eyes but that can't happen until my eye doctor cannot correct my left eye for glasses. That's the line the insurance company draws to pay for it. I really don't see well but the insurance companies don't care. So I hope my vision fails the test on my next exam the end of this year. I hope so. I dearly want to see better. I already lost my night vision and will never get that back.
Otherwise, things are okay with us but not with my oldest who lives across the US from us but won't get into that. Just hope she solves her problems this year so we don't have to go through another Christmas like last year.
Newest disaster was my hard drive crashing. Due to a manufacturing defect all my data is locked into the hard drive. It will take a special service to retrieve the data. One I know about is Drive Savers. But it will cost upward of $700 to get my data off the drive. That's because they use a clean room and super clean methods to take the thing apart then download what they can get off the files. I'll have to wait till I have the money to do that which will take a while. Luckily, the hard drive was under warranty and has been replaced so now I have to reinstate my passwords everywhere. Pain in the tush! What's equally stupid is I got an external hard drive for xmas but didn't hook it up. Stupid!!! Well now it up and running...that won't happen
to me again but I've lost a lot of info. *sigh*
The timing for that to happen really sucked as my inspiration for writing and drawing was running hot. After this, it's rather hard to get back into the mode again since I still feel depressed about it. But I'll be fine soon. I do spend nearly all my time on deviant art. If you want to see my current work go there to check me out. http://ulyferal.deviantart.com/ I don't change my avatar so you can google my name (ulyferal) and find me in a lot of places.
Hope all my FA friends are doing alright in this uncertain economy. I'm glad I'm retired. I'm tired of the rat race and worries though being retired doesn't mean being free of those but with careful planning we should be alright. How about you all?
