Charlie Update
Welcome to Balto's Journal
Hi Everyone, Regarding this : http://www.furaffinity.net/view/7187066/
I wanted to give you all an update on Charlie's condition.
After FC Charlie went in for his initial treatment. The Vet put him first on Antibiotics for 30 days so that when his body begins to deal with killing the worms he doesn't have any bad biological reactions to the body killing off the worms.
After Presidents day in Feb Charlie went for his 1st official heart worm treatment. That went on for 30 days.
Today Charlie went for his 2nd and final treatment which consists of 2 injections of the medicine (which I found out is actually Arsenic) I think its called Immiticide. Anyhow he had a shot today and is having another tomorrow. Charlie has to spend the night at the vets so its my first night in a long time not having Charlie in the house. That felt kind of weird. I miss it when he's not around.
Tomorrow I am picking him up from the vet at 4 pm tomorrow. Once this treatment is over he will have another check up in 6 months with blood work. They are confident this should take care of the heart worms since it was caught early. The next few months will probably be rough (while the worms are dying off etc) but he seems to be doing well according to the vet. While it ended up being an expensive procedure (approx. $1300 with meds and procedures) the money that you all contributed really helped take the edge off that expense. i wanted to thank you all again for all your help. Words will never be enough to say thank you for all that you have done. Charlie and I are very tankful to all of you who contributed and to all who sent well wishes. May you all be richly blessed for your kindness and support.
With much gratitude,
- Balto

That's wonderful news: Glad Charlie is on the mend!
Coming home to no Charlie today did feel a bit sad, it's the first time he's not been around when I've been home. It was so weird for him not to be here. I never realized how much his presence here meant to me. I miss him, but he will be home tomorrow. :o)
Sounds wonderful that the dog will do well!
I probably would have done what I could to help out too had I been able to make FC this year. Unfortunately I found out too late to really help.
You two have fun! And well, he should relax and take a rest... must've been a long day for him too not having Balto around.
Now I miss my doggies back at home...
