Chat rooms and you.

Many people I know RP. Heck, most of the people Ive met online I met because of RP. However, there are tons that dont enjoy the environment of a chatroom for the purposes of RP. And I would love to know why. What is it about chatrooms that make people uncomfortable or nervous or just cause them to not enjoy themselves?
Ive been to a good few myself, been going to Ekas for a looong long time, and personally I enjoy chatroom RPing much more than IM RPing. One, I like to put myself into a world, a somewhat consistent world, where you can truly imagine that youre not just talking to someone via text. You can envision yourself, your character, there in another world and play out the scenes. And two, I find it fun to have others able to watch or interact, join in or at least view your character and perhaps garner more interest.
Chatrooms also allow for things like coloured text, notifications, and profiles to view at your leisure. There can be a new person to play with every day, and things dont get tired or boring... Well, sometimes. Granted, there are always the politics that go along with being around groups of people, the friendships and the jealousy and the dislikes... but thats social life for you!
But what are some other thoughts? Are people interested in chatrooms but dont feel they fit in? Are there other reasons you might be disinclined to visit a chatroom for RP purposes? I am curious!

Some people like to be one on one too, and having other people can be rather daunting, and distracting. The fact some stranger could approach you out of nowhere, can be emotionally effecting (not saying you should go emo over someone saying your character sucks, or angry over "omg omg fuk me" ) Its just... easier for some people! Taste and preference!
I do like the 'world' of a chatroom, I totally agree there. But I know a lot of people who act like idiots, and seeing them in the same room with me (even with them on ignore) just is a bother, and would like them not to exist while I'm there.
Its good to meet people for sure, but most chatrooms, as you know, is basically a highschool, where theres always a popular one, a hated one, one that causes drama, you get none of that on a IM!
I have however started to enjoy 'messing around' in the chat room. I have found Varenx's chat site a more friendly place for messing around than other larger chat rooms. I suppose that that this messing around is what most furry chat is like.
Occasionally these informal chats have lead to my type of vore scenes, but often for me they don't. Informal chats seem conducive to the 'want to visit my tummy" style of vore. Which there is nothing wrong with that, it's just not my kind of vore.
