Well, the vet was able to get the needle out of Mushu's stomach. They did cut open his abdomen, but not his stomach. He is home right now, wearing that stupid cone, a huge patch of shaved fur, and a long line of stitches.

While I'm sure he won't like the cone, it's for the best. Our cat didn't have a cone on after his surgery (it was apparently a surface incision, so it wasn't that big of a risk) and he chewed on his stitches like crazy. He broke a couple and severely irritated the area to the point he was bleeding a little, which freaked us out thinking he would bleed to death.
