furry and animal transformation fandoms, sex and non-sex
13 years ago
i was just reading up on furry fandom, as well as transformation and role playing, and it seems most of us have at least a "minor" interest in the sexual aspects of the fandom, while 1/5-1/4ish have no sexual interest, and then that number again have a "strong" sexual interest.
and then there was the media coverage. are we freaks, are we clowns, are we go-lucky-have-fun types? etc. etc.
i've known all types, and i think my faves will tell you which group i belong to. (if you choose to categorize me, anyway).
what i wonder, is there a moral to learn, something i can understand to better my placement in this fandom? am i a leech, a producer, a benefactor, or just another umpteenth member?
is it wrong to be sexual about it? i mean, im not always sexual about it. there's some pictures i like for other reasons, and even the sexual ones i appreciate artistically (unless the ideas match near perfect to my own desires, or i want to support a budding artist, etc).
so, what you guys think? to yiff or not to yiff? why? and the other view point?

Since the Net has a natural Anonymity with it's users (unless they choose otherwise), people don't feel as restricted about social stigmas that normally can't be expressed or even be made aware of. Like finding Hermaphridites or someone turned halfway into a tree arousing when in RL Herms are not pretty or perfectly formed and turning into a plant is impossible.
Heck, I didn't know I preferred Anthro and Transformation media until I came upon it in Middle School by accident. The adult stuff filtered into my browsing habits as my puberty told hold and my natural curiosity sought it out.
Granted everyone has different taste and habits. Having said that, you should not feel left out or secluded because of it. If you know that people might not like it, don't mention it. They only know as much as you tell them. That's how I get by. Especially since I like the adult aspects of the fandoms. It's a way of changing up the otherwise PG nature of Life I encounter.
