I have always had a big lady boner for Jason Marsden.
Who is this person who can get this winged panther so giddy -- you might ask yourselves? Just the greatest voice actor ever (imo)-- and if not the greatest he's at least been in some awesome projects. Most people don't know him by name, but they usually know his roles.
You may remember him as the voice of Thakery Binx in Hocus Pocus, Kovu from Lion King 2: Simba's Pride, Max Goof from the Goofy Movies, and Haku in Spirited away. He's been in others. So many voices. ^^ Back in the 90's he also made appearances in the TGIF shows of the day: Boy Meets World, Full House and Step By Step. I actually saw him up close during a taping of Boy Meets World that I was lucky enough to get to see (lucky because technically I wasn't old enough to participate in a live screening, but my mom had a friend in the industry -- an evil lady btw -- but that's another story).
He's also in quite a few video games. Skyrim is the current one that comes to mind. Check his IMDB and you'll begin to see that he's been everywhere. I'm crossing my fingers for him to get something in the new ThunderCats -- because he and Will Friedle are old school buddies and they often work on projects together.
*EDIT* He IS in the latest ThunderCats. *Does a happy dance* I can't wait to see the latest episode now! Am I surprised he's in an episode that Will Friedle directed? Nope. Guessed that one. ^^
Every time he shows up in a movie I get all fan girl squealy. I can recognize his voice anywhere. And he's yummy -- I don't care that he's two inches taller than me -- I still swoon. Yeah, I'm bad, but at least I know and accept that about myself.
Now that I've hopefully got your attention with my lady boner story, on to writing topics.
I've gotten over 10k done on Love Soars -- the next Harpy Love story inspired by Aello in The Bestiary. Since I'm only to the halfway point, what would you, my readers, think of me running an edit of the first half of Love Soars, and post it for you to read, while I continue to write the second part? Or do you want to wait for me to finish part two to post?
Let me know and I'll tweak my schedule if needed.
On top of the Bestiary stories, I'm working on edits for two shorter stories I'm planning to sell to fandom 'zines. I also help host
crowchild's Livestreams when I'm not writing, editing or critiquing. So my plate sounds a bit full, but it's scattered and manageable.
Also, if you're ever in the mood for some great otter stories, totally check out
lei-lani for some awesome underwater otter lovin'! Since most of my readers prefer the straight stories, hers are definitely ones to check out.
TTFN,
Tyvara
P.S. Thanks to all my new watchers and readers. I'm so grateful to have you here. To my regular readers: You rock the hardcore! Your encouragement gives me strength during the ebb of writing's flow.

And I don't know about best voice actor ever. Two words, Mark Hamel, enough said -.O
And Hamel has done so much more than the joker, just check out his IMDB, he has been a lot of movies and videogames himself, but he is most iconically known for the voice of the joker, and I do not think any man can come close to the reign that Hamel had for a single character. 2 decades plus, that is pretty epic.
Marsden is good, don't get me wrong, and I am taking nothing away from him.
Lawls, I can't believe we are arguing over voice actors ^^
Okay, I just like the deep gravely ones, I can't help it. I really like Ron Pearlman's voice too.
Will Friedle (Terry McGinnis on Batman Beyond, Lion-O on the new Thundercats, etc)
Jason Marsden
Ron Pearlman
David Ogden Stiers
John Rhys Davies
Keith David
Mark Hamil
Frank Oz
Mel Blanc
Peter Cullen
Orsen Welles
Leonard Nimoy
Frank Welker
And a whole ton of others. x3
I do love Will Friedle as the new Lion-O. He does a great 'thunder. Thunder! THUNDERCATS HO!' And I love him using an adult voice for once. Any time he does a kid show he puts on a younger chibi voice. Nothing against the voice. I like it. It's just nice to have him in an older role.
My favorite Frank Oz is watching the making of videos for The Dark Crystal and hearing Aughra talking like Fozzie Bear/Yoda ('cause he was the puppeteer). Cracks me up every time. ^^
What I'd like to get is the behind the scenes/outtakes from The Dark Crystal, if I could only find it somewhere.
Labyrinth was also done by Henson. Back in the day there weren't many puppeteers out there. They all kinda worked for the same group of people. Thanks to Henson. He did a lot to get great artists together. Such a visionary *sheds tear for a great man*. But Labyrinth was one of Henson's ideas, which is why he was so hurt when the film didn't do well. If only he could have lived to see the cult followings of his films.
The 25th edition of The Dark Crystal has tons of special features, the detail in the video is totally worth the buy. The first DVD release has the old 80's documentaries on it. I haven't checked out the Blu-ray, but the 25th edition was a huge leap in video quality, I can only imagine what the Blu-ray would have improved. What I really love about The Dark Crystal is the world. They did so much for it. That world could have endless stories about it. It's a shame they can't get the sequel off the ground. After the last Muppet movie, I'm sure they'd be able to do some amazing things with a second film. *crosses fingers*
And I agree with you, I really wish they'd get the sequel off the ground. My hope, though, is that they stay true to Henson's vision for it. If they try to do anything too modern, or implement too many of their own ideas, it could royally screw what could've been a great story. As an amateur writer myself, I know what it's like to go into a theater expecting a certain type of story; just to find out that the writers of the film screwed it up and made it something different, all without informing the public. The feeling I had after watching The Dark Crystal, though, was completely different. I walked away from the film with a sense of awe and wonder, a feeling not easily captured in modern movies. And I'll have to try and find a copy of the 25th Anniversary Edition of that film, as well as for Labyrinth and Legend.
Fortunately, they have all the work they did for the first film to go off of. Brian Found is still alive (yay) and a few people who worked on the original film. I have an edition of The World of the Dark Crystal, and that book is rich with detailed world info and sketches. There is still so much that survived from the original film, all the comics, books etc. There's a lot going for them to create a great film. There have also been huge advancements in animatronics and puppetry since Henson's death, so I'll always be hopeful. Regardless, I'd still watch it just to see what they do.
Definitely do want the latest box of Labyrinth. I would love to have a better box of Legend too -- but mostly because one of the center prongs broke, so the disk slides around because it's not a fully enclosed box. It's a pretty box though.
The only other films I've felt this sense of awe from are Hayao Miyazaki's.
