So I wrote this all up yesterday night, then... well, I didnt even get a single response, not even a troll. Feh!
But yes, why does D3 have no tank/defensive class? I miss D2 simply for the paladin, all the classes in D3 are kinda meh. Id love to use a barb with a massive f-ing 2h weapon, but from all Ive read... thats basically impossible at hell and inferno difficulties considering how much defense you need as a melee class. So you get this HUGE BEAST OF A MUSCLEBOUND HERO hiding behind his shield, but wearing a loincloth... it just feels wrong!

I enjoy playing as a wizard, but I know I'm a walking pile of glass the further I go in this game.
Every two minutes, instead of dying when taking life damage, you go in to a spirit walk for two seconds and gain 10% health back. =p That and with a plethora of health-returning skills makes it so much more convenient. I should die several times each time I play yet I only end up doing so maybe once or twice.
Zerk spec is ok...But your VERY limited to what you can actually do.
Another enchant that is impossible to deal with as Barbs or Monks? Plagued Frozen Invulnerable Minion Rares. Seriously, melee needs a big survival buff, because getting 1-2 shotted in Hell makes me start regretting there even is any sort of melee class in the game. A melee character should not have to kite elites for 30-45 minutes to kill them. I'm starting to find a lot more fun in my Witch doctor because of this.
THAT is exactly what Im getting at. This is my biggest complaint, I think, with the game right now. You want to feel powerful, you want to go into combat and lop off heads and smash faces and crush skulls and whatnot... not tiptoe into combat and run as soon as someone tries poking you. Thats not the way it should be!
Its not supposed to work like that, I say! KNIGHT IN SHINING ARMOUR, WHERE ARE YOU?!
That's with something like 60% to all elemental resists, 82% physical damage reduction, and around 45% dodge. It's enough to handle most groups, but admittedly something like a spiderling pack with freeze, molten, and fire-chains will still kick my ass due to them being so inherently fast with that tendency to circle you. But at the same time, no one character is supposed to be able to handle everything!
Sure, theres multiplayer, but thats a whole other area to complain about, considering you NEED to be online in order to play the game even by yourself.
And I dunno if the enrage timers are in Hell diff or not, but by the sounds of it youre pretty much doomed to be stuck on bosses unless you party up, because without enough DPS... well, sure, you can survive until the enrage timer happens, but you'll still get wiped by the boss when that timer is up. Which irritates me plenty, because there is NO need to restrict that tanky style of gameplay by putting in such a mechanic. Its ridiculous, really.
It's a multiplayer game with a singleplayer mode.
Enemies in this game just have so much alpha damage. You can't reasonably tank without a major health regeneration pool going, usually 5-10% per second
