I don't think ANY woman should be breastfeeding in public. *knows she is in the minority of female opinion on the matter*

I've worked in retail, and let me tell you- women walking around with their kid latched onto their boob is distracting and kinda gross. In my personal opinion.

Well its true.I don't wanna see it and I don't wanna pop that awkward boner at work and everyone staring at me afterwards like..."Dude I cant believe you did that..." Cause I work at a craft store and the majority of customers are women and it would be TOTALLY weird.It isn't about me being against women and their rights.Its about EQUAL rights.If I can't bring my personal life to work they shouldn't either.
I saw this shit on the news and I was all...THIS ISN'T WORTH FIGHTING FOR.We have a so many issues in America right now and our military is fighting itself on a debate if its okay to bring your kids to work?What the fuck is this shit?

Exactly! I mean, I am all for women's rights (being one myself) but there's a limit to what is acceptable. I always hated it when women would come while feeding their babies. It's very hard to remain professional when all you can think of is how you want to tell her to put it away. I don't want to see that.

And as for bringing it to work- of course that's unacceptable! I would not go into a store if there was a chance that one of the employees was breastfeeding. It's incredibly unprofessional. American employers needs to give new mothers more paid maternity leave so they can take care of their kid without forcing the rest of us to deal with it.

I don't think its right to pay them more than they should have to.Honestly I think they should just leave the baby with a relative with a bottle if formulated or bottle some of their own milk for them beforehand.I understand that being pregnant can be a stressful ordeal and having the baby is worse,but I think there comes a point where you have to suck it up.Your family isn't going to just feed itself with no income and it isn't fair to the employers to have to pay them cause they decided to have a family.Cause they are going to breast feed their kids for a LONG time.Its not like its going to be a few months of paid leave if that were the case.

Yeah, but what if there are no relatives? Most civilized countries have a decent amount of maternity/paternity leave because, you know, having kids is important to society. If everyone stopped having kids because of how inconvenient they are, the whole species would die out.

It's not about kids being important or not.Its about supporting your family,but keeping them at home where they belong.I'm not trying to say kids are a bad thing.I just want people to take care of them on their own time or hire a nanny or a friend or family to watch them when they can't.

Also I get tired of mothers bringing their kids to a store and NOT watching them.Its like..Im paid to stock shelves not babysit your fucking kids .-.

All I'm saying is that there needs to be a better support system for mothers, especially new mothers. In a world where most families need two incomes just to get by, expecting people to be able to afford a nanny is just not realistic. And relying on friends and family just isn't an option for a lot of people. What if one has no family? And all of your friends have jobs as well? As I said before, there needs to be a better support system.

Yeah, I have been there. It got so bad that I would tell them that if they left the store I would be calling to police to pick up the abandoned child. You'd think that with all of the pedos and other pervs out there people wouldn't be so willing to leave little kids in a store while they go and do their shopping elsewhere. It wasn't as confusing when I worked at a store in a mall, but when I was at the strip mall store and people would drop off their kids and then go to Wal-Mart or whatever, I just did NOT understand that. Teens would be understandable, but 5-7 year olds? WTF?

Yeah,but military workers get daycare benefits.My brothers family gets them o-o
But for the rest of us...I can see how that can be difficult.

I used to work at Wal-mart.We actually had a system in the store about kids.If they look lost confused or are crying you walk up to them and take them to the service desk and page their parents.If they do not show up within a half an hour then we'd call the police to escort the kid home.Or if a parent says they lost their kid we call in a code blue and lock down the whole store.

If day care is provided, then they should definitely take advantage of it. There's no reason to carry your kid around if care is available.

I never worked at a store with an actual policy, so I just had to make it up as I went. Usually the threat of the cops being called was enough to convince them to not leave their spawn unattended.
