Why does every Keranid/Infected looks different?

The infection optimizes but does not need to change the body to the one of a keranid. It changes what is ultimately the perfect form of a body in someone's higher self of thinking. So it can even take the physical form of one of the Incarnations the soul went through already or take parts of different ones and combine it over time.
It changes some physical conditions that are the same with every carrier, but everything else can be completely different.

As for the Keranid it is because they can change attributes as they like, all the time to optimize the physical condition towards the surroundings. The biology is a perfect fit for the Keranidae so it can use the full potential of it due the 100% Infection rate and the fact that they are partly designed by it. By this they will change parts of the form quite often. Sometimes more, sometimes less. Sometimes even hexapods, wings or similar even scaled due the first earlier forms where like that from begin with.

So if character A dies but gets reincarnated into character B, then character B gets infected, they don't gain the form of memories of character A.
But if it is character A that gets infected first, then character B does get all of that stuff?
Man, the more often I read these, the more awesome it gets.
If an infected dies, gets reincarnated than its a total different story which can lead to all strange situations you could imagine. The possibility is given in both samples. But second is way more dramatic because you dont get to actually incarnate with a new everything because the infection will try to reboot the moment before you died and will go on from that point. When this happens cant be predicted but usually is linked with ether extreme situations or near death experiences.
