Im laying here awake
So very far from sleep
Like a bird without wings
A fat kid without cake

So many things to say
But few words to speak
Just wanting to scream
But nothing comes out

My job has been rough
And pay has been minimal
Bills keep piling up high
With no end to be seen

I feel so scared and alone
It hurts me to admit
Just want someone close
To hold and make me strong

But alas I sleep alone tonight
All these things weigh heavy
So as I close my eyes, maybe
It will all just be a dream
