Could your friend that made the game put on his website a youtube video that actually shows off the gameplay, and what it consists of, rather then a stylized "Artsy" video that shows 80 snippets of gameplay off in under 90 seconds?

This is literally the biggest kick in the crotch for me for game advertising videos. I want to see gameplay, seeing videos like this just, kills any interest I have in the game

This is the Braid trailer. It does show off more gameplay, however, it fucking buries it in artsy fartsy intellectual crap in both the video, and the tagline under it. This has the problem that it literally isn't under-representing its product, its over-representing its product.

There is a reason why the "WTF is X" game videos by totalbisquit are literally the most watched videos on youtube to learn about upcoming games. Cause he shows off gameplay free of artsy bullshit, and gives the consumer an actual idea of what the game actually -IS-

This is an art game. An experimental game. So is Braid. Trailers are supposed to give a sensation of the experience, and I think this is a great look at what you'll be seeing and doing (running, dunking) throughout the whole game, all wrapped up in a very strong aesthetic that alludes to the evocative nature of the game.

If it killed your interest, then this is probably not a game for you :)

I'll check it out... I enjoy trying new kinds of experimental games (most of the time... see "The Path" or "Dear Esther" for ones that aren't really games.)

Braid, by far, help me on that path... One of the few games I would say is "best of all time" for so many reasons.

This one has more gameplay than both of those - though I really enjoyed Dear Esther. (I think exploration might be more of a feminine-leaning mechanic, maybe? I always enjoy spaces to explore, even with a dearth of classic/traditional gameplay - see Proteus, for example!)

So hopefully you'll find it somewhat fun! :D

I haven't actually had a chance to try Dear Esther yet, although I imagine I will eventually. Exploration might be more feminine-leaning, but as an old adventure gamer it's a natural instinct for me too XD

I did pick it up yesterday and did enjoy it :) Thank you for the tip. I ran into a couple of game-breaking bugs in one section, but since everything is so chaptered I was able to just restart it and overcome the problem. I did like the variety in this one too and the story was cute.

Oh no! Sorry to hear about the bugs! What happened? I can sick Bean on it and he'll be probably be excited for an excuse to keep working on it :)

Sure... I doubt I could actively replicate them but I do recall what happened.

(WARNING: SPOILERS AHEAD FOR ANYONE PLAYING THIS)

The errors I found were in chapter 3, and consisted of the following issues:
- When I scored my 3rd point from the far left side, it 'auto-duped' the character 3 times and I always scored 3 baskets in a row. Dunno if that was on purpose or not, but I liked the boost.
- After the above happened, you have to retrieve your basketball, and intentionally get 'snagged' around the waist. A couple of times, after this happened, I would jump up on the right-hand side by the basket and then freeze in mid-air. Only a hard exit would fix this.
- My second time through (after encountering the first 'mid-air freeze') I was doing good - but it kept going. I read that you're supposed to pass a stage after 11 points - I got up to about 22 before calling it quits and trying again. The next time I successfully played through, I got to 11 and the game moved on.

That is everything that I can think of at the moment. If I find anything else, I'll pass it on.
