A Year of Coopertom - Fursuit Review

General
Well its been a full year of owning my Coopertom cat fursuit made by
jillcostumes Its been to 5 conventions, numerous fursuiting evens, videos and just wearing it for the sake of wearing it ha ha! I put a lot of mileage on my suits and Coopertom is holding up like a champ! No rips, no tears, no nothing! It still looks as good as it did when I first pulled it out of the box! I don't go easy on this suit it all. I think the main reason is because the type of fur Jill0r used breathes way better then my other suits. I don't get overheated as quickly so I can act like a madman longer than I normally would.
On of my favorite features of the suit are the feet. I know a lot of suiters like the big feet and depending on the style it does look great but I always wanted a suit where the feet are proportional to my body and Jill0r totally pulls this off beautifully. They are based around a regular pair of comfy slippers. They are super light too. Even with the foam and fur on them they still just feel like a nice pair of slippers. I can walk around effortlessly. Running, jumping, everything isn't a problem. It's so beautiful never having to watch your step when you're in a crowd.
The body suit is also great! I don't know how she does it but she used a big plastic style zipper and hid it really well. The bigger zipper is super easy to unzip nice and fast and fur doesn't get caught and jam as much compared to the smaller style zippers. The suit also washes in a synch too. The only thing which is a bit of a chore is the longer pile grey fur on the shoulders and upper back. While its a nice touch it takes a bit more time to brush than the rest of the body.
The hands are so nice! They are 4 fingered with small claws that appear to be made out of resin. What I like about the claws is that they don't stick out. While they are there and you can see them, they don't get in the way of anything. Its great when you have to push elevator buttons. Another great feature is that the claws are not painted. Its a solid color all the way through. No worrying around chipping paint on such a high traffic part of the suit. While some suit makers like to use rubber paw pads on the hands, Jill0r just used fabric and I personally think its an excellent choice. It doesn't even feel like they are there which is really nice. Also makes washing the hands a breeze. One of my favorite details are the paw pads. Jill0r made them randomly pink and black just like a real cat.
The tail, made super heavy duty. It has a nice thick belt loop in it so no worries about the tail yanking off. It has just the right amount of stuffing it as well. Not too much to make it rigid and not too little to make it flat. Its got the right amount of sway in it so you can totally get the tail moving perfect when your walking, dancing or taking an action picture.
Last but not least is the head. Its just perfect! It really feels indestructible. All the fur seams are stitched. There are no wrinkles, the fur lays nice, tight and solid to the foam. Its super light. The head doesn't weigh any more than a bicycle helmet. You can actually squish the head! There is no resin or joints or seams to worry about inside the head. You can totally crush the head down to save space when packing. I have freaked a lot of people out ha ha! The vision is amazing! The center blind spot is almost zero. I can look dead ahead and not have to worry about bumping into anything and it also makes performing in suit way better too because you can look people straight in the face so it doesn't look like you're staring off into space when your interacting with someone. The eye holes are covered with a heavy duty perforated plastic instead of fabric which I really like because I can toss this head around and not have to worry about ripping the eyes. The inside is lined with a nice smooth Lycra material and is actually loose and billowy. I don't know how she does it but the Lycra hood inside the head is stitched around the foam. Its not actually attached to the foam which works wonders when your drying it. The Lycra protects the foam from moisture and odors. I wear a balaclava with all my suits to protect the head from moisture but I have found the head that Jill0r made resists a lot of the moisture because of the way she made the inside. I have only wiped it out a few times with a weak solution of water and rubbing alcohol on a washcloth. There are no odors at all. The head still smells new even after all the use I put it through. Although it lacks a moving jaw its the best fursuit head I have worn as far as vision, maintenance, durability and comfort goes. Oh and lets not forget the expression on that face! Ha ha! She did an amazing job on it!
Its been a crazy and amazing time I have had with this suit this past year. I feels great to finally portray my Coopertom cat character with such an awesome suit. I'm so happy how it came out, I'm totally going to get another one from Jill0r but for now I'm having too much fun being a cat! MEOW!
