Does he ever talk during the streams or is he too tired then?

He's said "Hello." every so often, but he's really shy so it's not very loud. I bet that he'll start talking more while we're streaming. Once a Grey starts talking they seldom stop. Though it depends what time you join us. Soren's usually the last to go to bed, but it's still late.
Kuarii has said "What's a duck say?" and quacks while we've streamed. But he's the first to go to bed.

Silly bird. They say the darndest things. ^^
Soren makes a really cool bubble sound, Crow says it sounds like a bong, but I think the bubbles are too little like a kid blowing bubbles in his drink. I haven't quite figured out all of Soren's repatriate -- he still mumbles too many things. He is quite the composer though and likes to whistle his own tunes. But he only does that when he can't see me.

He really has come far. It just goes to show that with a bit of training even older birds can learn new tricks. I didn't think that at 16 years he'd start talking this much. Some people thought he never would. I think he's jealous of Kuarii and the attention I give him for talking. He's trying to compete. ^^

Well he proved he has intelligence when he said I know. Birds can and do sometimes understand what is being said and do respond appropriately rather than just repeat words. I have seen this in several videos folks have recorded of them chatting with their birds. Yer kids sound like they are quite awesome birdies. May they continue to amaze and entertain you both.

Birds are so intelligent. Research studies say that African Greys have the mental abilities of a five year old child. Quaker Parakeets are about three. There is a lot of smarts up there. When I worked at the bird store I had a conversation about apples with a Catalina Macaw. We also had a breeding pair of Green Wing Macaws that named themselves. What's funnier, is when Amazons rename themselves they usually pick Latino names. It's amazing what they say once they understand how we communicate.
