So hot...
It's nearly 30 degrees Celsius in my room (that's 86 degrees Fahrenheit for you Americans), with the fan on full, and not including the heat my poor computer is giving off :P Maybe that's not so hot for some of you, but it's kind of making me feel like death x_x I'm sweating just sitting here not even doing anything! Well, at least it looks really nice when I look out my window ;P But yes, even at midnight, it was 26C (79F) in Vancouver last night, so I don't even really get a break when the sun goes down. Ah well, there'll only be another few weeks of this, I'm sure, before the lovely damp cold of Scotland, haha.
So, what do you guys do to keep cool? Or are you one of those crazy people who, heaven forbids, ENJOYS being hot? *shakes fist*
Also, still have a few slots left for big commissions left! See <url=http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/3718505/]my previous journal[/url] for more details.

I do feel a bit bad for being a big baby about (that's a lot of B's) the heat, as I know it's a lot worse in other places. It's just silly when you can feel like you might pass out just sitting/lying there x_x I'm trying to make sure I drink lots of water and whatnot, but it still doesn't seem to make my headache go away :(
Mmm, 50F sounds really nice about now.
The weather has been crazy here lately, we've been in a pretty bad drought... despite the fact that we are surrounded by the biggest bodies of fresh water in the world >_>
and what makes it more fun is my job, I sometimes have to spend several hours in open areas where the sun is beating down on ya, and where mosquitoes thrive..... oh the fun.....
That's stupid. I think it's supposed to be kind of illegal to make people work outside in temperatures above around 40F, as that's the temperature meat can start cooking :b What do you do for work?
Also, I found the Off! Deep Woods Dry repellent works really well against mosquitos - it's the one we've had the best luck with so far.
And I know off! deep woods works great..... but I cant use it for work when I'm out at sites, because it has chemicals in it that we may be testing for, and we are testing in the ppm (parts per million) some wearing that could be picked up in the tests and ruin data :\ so I just kinda have to grit my teeth and deal with it.... the worse problem is the ticks.... cause a lot of the wells we go to are out in deep wooded areas with high deer populations, or in tall grasses with the same thing, the best we can do is wear full body suits, but in that heat....... is a lose lose
Yeah, I was sort of worried about that. It would definitely throw off your readings :b which totally sucks. Um, well... exhale less CO2?? :V
I've never had problem with ticks before :S I imagine those suck pretty badly :(
...
... Oh god, that was a pun, wasn't it?
ticks are disgusting.... they give me the creeps, the only other bug that gives me the creeps is house centipedes
ticks carry some nasty nasty things, like lyme disease D:
I hold my breathe as much as possible when moving through mosquito heavy areas, but it doesn't matter, I am a massive mosquito magnet, me and several people will be in a same small area, I'm the only one that gets bit D:<
"I am a massive mosquito magnet, me and several people will be in a same small area, I'm the only one that gets bit D:<"
That was me a few years ago o_o For some reason, they don't like me as much anymore. WELL GOOD, JERKS.
For me:
CO2. is a given
Lactic acid and High potassium levels, I work hard, I may be fat, but there is a lot of muscle hidden in it.
body heat, my body radiates heat something fierce, there's a reason people like to be next to me when it's cold
moisture, for whatever reason I dont barely have to do anything to sweat, it's a genetic thing that comes from my dad's side of the family, we shouldnt have any water left in our bodies after we get done working some days O_o also there is a lot of water in the area's where we are wroking
and we do a lot moving around.
it can be a nightmare for me some days D:
Yeah, a lot of guys sweat pretty easily, it seems like. Seems kind of inconvenient to me :b I mean, obviously it has its benefits, but... man, I don't envy the damp shirts, sweat stains, or sticky feeling :b
Haha, so heat or cold, they both can screw me over XD But I'd still strongly prefer to be too cold than too hot.
...While the hot makes for gross sticky not-sleeping >:\
I live on the Pacific coast, and it's mostly nice here most of the time (except a lot of people complain about it raining too much - I think it's nice, and gives us beautiful temporate rainforest :) ), but I'm with you - I don't get how/why people can like the heat, except for the possibility that they're somehow MAGICALLY unaffected by it o_o My body starts freaking out over about 20-25C (depending on the humidity), let alone something like 45C O_O
Y'know, raw meat starts cooking around 40-45C? I don't want to be outside (or inside without AC) in that! People can literally DIE from those temperatures.
Also, your avatar made me snort :b
Yeah, I've heard plenty of stories about hikers dying of heat stroke out in the desert. .__. Luckily, I've never had a problem with my A/C or it would probably feel like a desert inside my apartment.
Yeah, we get a little snow, but not enough, in my preference. It'll snow and get maybe ankle deep if you're lucky, and then mostly be gone within a day or two. Most people kinda prefer it that way, though - you get the fun of snow, but without most of the inconveniences. I think snow's pretty fun, though :D
I've heard stories of people just dying in their houses because they didn't have AC :S
Yeah, see, I feel bad for complaining when I know there are people living in worse. But it's still enough to make me feel like crap. x_x It was never quite this hot a few years ago, which is why I'm not really used to it - ten years ago, it never really got hotter than 20-25C on the hottest days, but now it gets to 30-35 :b
Leaving a building that has AC feels like stepping into an oven.
Hm, I'm guessing the bags absorbed all the heat so it wouldn't end up going inside?
I'm in an ice bath, immersed in its piercing cold waters, gooseflesh covering my skin. My breath creates fog in the chill aiRAUGH CRAP IT'S HOOOOOOOTTT
Ours is a corner unit that faces southeast :b
If my hair didn't take forever to dry and just leave me feeling muggy, I'd do that, too, I think.
A hot muggy one, though, not so much :c
Also, your Scottish 86F is making me jealous! >8U
The hot days in Ohio are much less forgiving -_-
Oh, I'm not in Scotland yet! I'm looking forward to the cooler weather there x_x But yeah, Ohio sounds hot =/
86d would be cool where I am.
95-100 pretty steady the past two weeks, 40% humidity, heat index between 103-110d F. And that's pretty normal.
Comfortable? NO, not in the least. Normal... yup. That's East Texas for ya. If you want hot... try southern Louisiana!
Whatever southern Louisiana is like, I'm pretty sure I'd probably (literally) die without AC :b - if a moderately humid mid 80s day gives me a terrible migraine and gives my body panic attacks, then a humid 100+ would probably kill me :b
Gee'z, I was saying to some other people... God, I feel terrible for you guys that have to work in the heat! x_x Good luck with that o_o
Events aren't really my thing, and while I'm friendly enough, I'm kind of shy in real life - big groups of people kind of stress me out :P No, I've never been to a con, although some of my friends have stressed that I should go, as it'd probably be good for networking and such! Unfortunately, I won't be here next year, as I'm moving to Scotland next month :S
Mmm, freezers. There's a big walk-in freezer at my boyfriend's work that's awesome for when you need a quick cooling down!
I actually enjoy both extremes. Hot or cold. 110F to -10F.
But I do get where you're coming from. Because I live on the side of the building where the sunset hits and heats the building up even more, and that makes it hard to get to sleep. It gets so warm in here, even if I've got the fan on high. :O
