He's home from the hospital, still a little out of it but he's past the crisis point, I think. Taking it easy for now -- which is hard for my mom, especially, because she desperately wants to fuss over him but doesn't want to get him overexcited.

I'm not sure I'd call the situation "stable" but it is no longer panic-inducing. Thanks all for your thoughts/prayers/good vibes.
