Yessir. Born and raised in Fairfax/Loudoun. Currently at VCU as a Health Science grad. I love DC though, it's a pretty city. A few of my friends live there now, with their big-boy jobs.
Hah, no I had my next round's candidate picked out about thirty seconds after the last one finished.
I got put into the position of finding that after decades of complaining about how we never elected a president who approached things a certain way, I finally got what I asked for. We may not see eye to eye on some things, but I've marveled at how he managed to pull of a good score of seemingly impossible things.
And of course, the media doesn't cover stuff like that, because everyone's caught up in the old-school narrative so firmly they can't see what's going on right in front of them. It's almost spooky at times.
A simplification of it would be 'you have to look like X and believe Y to get elected or get anything done'
Conventional political wisdom on steroids.
The stealth approach I believe I've noticed is the way he's challenging Bush era shenanigans where there were abuses of power and power grabs in the executive branch that are difficult to address within the current system. During the prior administration, there were positions taken supported by a lot of national security letter waving or simple "I'm the boss, do it this way' rules broaching that prove difficult to reverse without inviting lawsuits from those supporting the state things were left in 2008.
In most of the places where I'd been watching the shenanigans of the second Bush administration with little hope of change, I've noticed that instead of changing the rules, this administration embodies them, pushes them forward with a less histrionic defense. No national security letters where (one assumes) they weren't warranted, and when a settlement is offered, they take it. But then, I don't expect most people to notice - the average attention span for 'last administration committed quite a few egregious violations of law' seems to be quite small.
"Hey I'm in favor of creating jobs! But that won't stop me from taxing and spending and doing favors for my corporate cronies! That other guy though, HIS corporate cronies are a-holes."
It honestly has been very bleh. This feels like 2004 all over again. I've pretty much stayed away from the TV, ignored 90% of campaign emails, and reformatted what I follow on Twitter to reduce tweets that sat "X is at X rallying for X, watch here: idontcarejustleavemealoneuntilnovember.bitly"

There's my vote.
