Question for gearhead furs

I once had a tape player names Arlo....
Is it possible to convert a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo from the 42RE to a ZF 6 speed S6-37 or S6-45 manual transmission? My friend's automatic is slipping badly between second and first from anywhere between 20 mph and 45 mph. It does not like 2nd gear for some reason and we don't know why. The engine makes either 305 Nm or 319 Nm torque which is enough for the S6-37 to handle, but seeing as how the 37 model can handle up to 370 Nm, I was thinking about the 45 model which handles 460 Nm. Nm stands for Newton meters in case you were wondering. I know there's a lot involved, but would it be possible. This is still just a thought in the planning stage, so there's no will this fit here or there talk yet.

With that old of a jeep, you'd be better spending the $1000 on an old accord or something. Unless you can get the parts cheap and do it yourself, it wouldnt be worth it, but if you know what youre doing, give it a shot! Could be a cool project

yeah but it's my friend's Jeep again. It looks like it could have a nice shifter put in it though. http://images.autotrader.com/scaler....._A.562x421.jpg You have enough room there in the console, for it at least. I've seen some people retrofit pedals and other parts on it anyways. If it was me, it would be doing the same thing to a Volvo S90 or camming a 1995 Taurus SHO manual. X3
