In the name of the Father

Also, by request (:3
Even if I flirted with the nickname of "Gandalf el Gris" (Gandalf the Grey) for some months, and only to sign my fantasy stories and RPG scenarios, my nickname has been quite the same over the years.... and even earlier than 1993, when I didn't even know about "that thing called the interweb" xD;;;
At first, it was "Skyfire". Why? Because of one of my favourite cartoons character. Skyfire (his name in the cartoons, because it was called "JetFire" in the comics) is a large Transformer who transforms into a fighter/transport jet. I liked it a lot not only because he was the only one Decepticon (as far as I know) changing sides: being a decepticon scientist, when he knew Megatron was going to destroy all humans, he started to question his allegiance, and declared himself an Autobot. But also because he's also almost identical to one of the Macross Valkyries (aka the Robotech Veritechs). Specifically, the VF-1S Super Valkyrie (VF-1S Super Veritech). Too good to miss it.
But, living in Spain, the word "skyfire" was not easy to be said. In fact, they never did it well. So, the same way than your friends end calling you "Bart" if your name is Bartholomew, or "Matt" when you're Matthew, they shortened it to "skyfi", and later to "skifi", an easy-to-pronounce work for spaniards, and also short to be written. "skifi" (notice it has NO capital "s") is pronounced like "skeefee", and that's also the reason my english or american friends also can call me "skeef". Even if, as said, only friends use that second version. :3
Too long story for a too short nickname, isn't it? ;D
Well, in the previous journal entry, many people as nice, kind and friendly enough to let me know about their fursonas and how did they choose them and design them. This time, the question is easier, and I would feel really grateful if you take some minutes to leave a little reply here: Tell me....
How and why did you choose your actual nickname? Has it always been the same or has it evolved somehow, like mine did? Do you use other nicknames different than your FA nick? What's their story, too? :>
I'm all ears :]

The best part of the name though is I am not and have never been a wolf. I am either a cheetah or a blue skunk (never at the same time though). Most of the time though (especially with the rise of SL) I just go by Cyan now or my real name.
But my online nick, Kittiara, was something I thought up back in early middle school... first I just called myself Kitty, then when I thought that was immature, I chose Kit. Then I wanted a longer name that was a *little* more original... so I "thought of" Kittiara, which was absolutely subconciously influenced by the Dragonlance character "Kitiara" (she has one less t). I didn't like that character the first time I read the books, but now I love her. XD
I use the name "mialattia" (no capital m) for e-mails and stuff... not sure why. I think I was trying to make a Yahoo! account and "Kittiara" was taken, so I decided to use 'mialattia' instead. It was just me fooling around with the name 'Kittiara' to think of something similar that I could use when 'Kittiara' isn't available. XD But it doesn't have much personal meaning... yet.
But I also love the Dragonlance, you already know that, and.... that's not a too bad character at all, heeheh ;3
BTW, if I could choose a real name, it would be as original as yours. I like it to bits :D
Nah, really, I have been feeling full of thoughts lately, so this kind of friendly talks make me feel better, and feed my curiosity ^^ I'm afraid about going more personal, but it seems everybody is comfortable talking about their fursonas :3
I know what you mean about curiosity, too!
One day I needed to change my online nick, because I came to the realization that what I picked wasn't very original (Weapon-X).
So I went brainstorming and for some reason Peppermonkey popped in my head. It has no real source other than my random thoughts.
In rea llife for a while I was just The Fuzz. My brother arbitrarily called me fuzz butt during a minigolf game. It caused me such distress at the time that he decided to remember it, and told everyone. So all our mutual friends were calling me fuzz butt just to tease me. Eventually they tired of the two syllable name and called me fuzz, which stuck for some time.
At some point for an email account I made for some lame RP thing...I changed fuzz to funk. After emails like Fuzzy_doom. So then I had funkleft. I have no idea why left came to mind. WEll then funkleft has been with me for a while as a zombie disco alter ego "Funkleft jivehausen McGroovenasty"
Since then funkleft fuzz and moonltie symphony have been my screen names and things online. Groovesponge (just another funny word) became a name for my house music.
Oh names.
But,f from them all, which one would you like to keep as a definitive one? :]
I have no idea. Moonlite has been around a while, some people regard it as my name onlien even after finding out my real one.
my nickname?? um, well...I have had a few through my school years, it started out as Squirrel...but I didnt like it. I mean, i'm not squirrely at all..i used to drive squirrely, haha. That's where I got that name. But everyone I know IRL calls me Kandy. My name is Kandis. and well...its cute to call my Kandy i spose -blush-
In 5-8th grade my fursona was labeled Kayko, I rather enjoyed the anime Yu Yu hakusho, but I didnt like the spelling "Keiko" so I sounded it out and english, would be "Kayko" It sounded gentle and but
After I decided it was too...straightforward and I changed it to Kaeko. It was easier to type in the Japanese characters. because the "Y" But technically it SHOULD be sounded as Ka-e-ko. I rather the e-sound like a y Kayko spelled Kaeko. SO now, I'm often called Kaekae or Kae-chan instead. lol.
that was fun, enjoyed that :3
Didn't know you also had an interesting story behind your name.... isn't it nice to get to know you better too? ;D
Clone yourself to get awesome, passionated sex everyday, hahaha ;D
That seemed like too much of a mish-mash, so I thought "If I could be just one of these, what species would I be?", and *poof!* Red panda. ^_^
Until a year or two ago, when my secondary species, which had been bubbling away for a long time, finally insisted on prominence, and so here I am, snowshoe hare and loving it. =:D
At some point, i shortened it to M.O.T. ...then on thing lead to another.
Though its a rather bad nick cause no one is able to search it in any of the major search engines cause "mot" means "word" in French...so you get buried in French websites if you search for MoT.
I know its not particularly cool to be so into sports but United mean the world to me, my dad took me to my first game when I was 6 years old and I've never stopped going since!
But in IRL about 80% of my friends call me Moose. I used to play football (American, the one with the tacklin and the super bowl) and I was sorta good at it. And one day I was on a roll for tackles and my friend said I was like a Moose today and he started calling me that. Then sooner or later everyone started to :X
I had a phase of choosing names of dragons from books and eventually landed on Skie (AKA: Khellendros/Storm over Krynn from the Dragonlance novels). Its not a common name, but someone here already had it so I needed something different, hence adding fire to the end. Skiefire sounded neat enough at the time :p
Other names Ive had are Cruiser, Mnementh (another book dragon), Scryanth, Blooddragon, Orm-Embar (another book dragon). I still use some of them (its not easy getting user names changed, sadly :( )
Then again, I guess my 'offical furry' name is Guardian.
I've been around music for as long as I could remember- My dad used to play music for a living, and him and mom used to own a music store. I started trying to compose music around 1997, then found the internet in late-1998. It wasn't until 1999 that I decided I needed a cool name to go by (even though I was the only one listening to my work, I didn't share it around :B ).
I went through a few names, all of them had no meaning whatsoever, and were pulled together with words and syllables I heard and happened to like. The last two were "Chicago V2000" (mid/late 2000) and "Lollie Slash" (mid-2001, which I got out of a failed attempt to crack my music program - instead of giving me the name I wanted, it gave me "¤ /").
2003 rolled around, and I made a new friend in art class. We chatted a bit and I got her MSN address. She was really into anime, so when she spotted my screenname, she pointed out to me that "slash" was an anime term used for Yaoi.
I was 15 at the time, so a name that spelled out as "confectionery male love" didn't sound too good to be making music with. I quickly went and took parts I liked from previous names, "Chicago" and "Lollie", and mixed them together to get what I have now.

CLHOILCLAIGEO
...there, that should be easier to line up .x
Well, to put it simply, it was a character name for an rp on the offsite of this one guild on Gaia that Im member of. A'course, I technically took it from a character from the game Chrono Trigger. Anyway, after long enough, that just sorta became what I go by generally. That ones mostly online, though. And the fact that it would up becomeing the name of my fursona just sorta kept it going as such.
*has really simple to explaiun things that have short stories behind them* :3
you should tell all people your secrets or I wont be in advance anymore
my orginal name was jule-san what was my name since I started to draw more in the manga style with 12
some of my old furry drawings even still carried that name even when I had already been know as inuki.
The furry name I had was first Susukie inspirated by the company suzuki and the name of my first real character a yellow fox. Simple after I tryed to applicated on my first artsite that name was already taken and I was forced to choose a new one. Since I had read the Manga X-1999 by Clamp this time I decide to name myself after the Dog Spirit that played a role as a protecter in this Manga. And that name stayed with me until now even when I also be know under Suki-san(cause on DA the name susuki and Inuki were taken) and Ikuni what was simple changing two of the letters cause Im lazy.
I already tell everybody my secrets... or is that a typo in your answer? ;3
If you could get a new nick name (or one of the old ones you have had in the past) and use it forever, which one would you stick with? :3
hmm a new nickname? lemme see.....
Julia Maraver Patino ;3 would love stick with it XD
hmm seems I neecd to add
Julia Schubert Maraver Patino ;3 guess thats more fixing 83 and they are no others with that \"nickname\" for sure XD
When I first discovered the internet, I had no idea how to behave on the net. I went from place to place and did all my internet stuff via AOL freebies. I tried several different names. In that early period, I discovered IRC and started looking up other pagans. I'm pagan, by the way. I wanted to pick a name that had something to do with fire and magic and as I had just started studying fire gazing as a form of future telling, I took that as my name. Pyromancy literally means to have visions through fire. After a few years, it just stuck.
Ivan is obviously russian/slavic (i only have a tiny bit of Russian/slavic in me). When i updated my fursona to the winged otter, I also had discovered quite an attracting to soviet-era Russian symbols (hammer and sickles kind). No not communist, ^_^. But Aeroflot (the airline) has a winged hammer and sickle, which i thought was perfect (winged otter).
Ivan is a very common slavic name (its equiv to John) but you don't see many Ivans in the fandom. And Rudakov is the actual russian family name in my heritage. So whallah. Ivan Otter Rudakov.

One day.. Skifi existed. The end!
:3
Then i switched to Leo-Ren. Yes, japanese influence... But it made it better
later in life, after having been kicked out of several apartments over the years, and never really welcome anywhere I go, I realized I was a Stray.
funny thing is, it was about a Decade AFTER I started using the moniker Straycat before I ever HEARD of the band.
I've tried other nick's, but none are as appropriate as Straycat, nor do any of them fit me and my personality as well as this one does.
add in the fact that I am now a career truck driver that wanders around the United States, and it's like a old worn fishing hat that you keep for sentimental reasons and comfort.
And now it's when I get to know about a band called Straycat XD;;; I better google for it and get educated
Achesha Crystalfur Lloyd is a bit longer story. "Achesha Cat" is how I always heard the Cheshire Cat introduce himself in Disney's animated version of Alice in Wonderland. Crystalfur is a Furry transformation of the human name Christopher. That has it's origin in a human character I designed in high school who never went anywhere. No guess for why it's Crystalfur Lloyd. He's one of my all time, favorite actors. It helps too that Chris is frequently as gently insane, as the characters he portrays.
But the Christopher - Crystalfur transformation really amazed me.... I like how your imagination worked so well to fur-ifize a name!
and yeah, I'm rather proud of that one.
Mine isn't very special. Um just my older Bro calls me Lee and a ex of mine started calling me LeeLee so I liked it. Kitty-Chan was my first name on DA when everyone including myself was going through the animu phase. :B I like Lee better.
