All the animals you listed are mammals, furry mammals no less.

Maybe it's just that the average guy can only jump so much back in the evolution tree, but perhaps reliability also drops when you have a scale and are cold blooded.... hard to tell really

True, Farel, my prey... sorry, RP-partners :D are mostly warm-blooded mammals. But I don't know why? If it's because reptiles usually do turn people off, as they find them scary, creepy or the like? Dunno, but really an interesting question.

I guess it might also be an animal species we see less often in our environment. We don't even see anything alike!

Lion => Cat
Nothing similar... I guess dragons are a different matter, but to me they seem like a bit of a "hipster species"... no offense to people who have them, but... yeah, only reptile being that's really popular!

The reason there are so few snakes is the same reason there are so few birds and so few fish. It's difficult to visually anthropomorphise them.

Also cartoon and fantasy media spend decades playing up mammals to be likeable heroes/protagonists and everything else to be stupid and untrustworthy (esp reptiles), a stigma which is wearing off a little, but still rather slowly.

Dogs and cats are also the most popular pets in the western world, so people feel the most attachment to them.

Also the community punishes creativity. If you want to RP with people, your chances are of success are much higher if you pick a wolf than if you pick a snake.

For me it's easy, I just like them. However, whenever I attempt to play as one, I just can't seem to err...wrap my head around thinking like them.
