Yeah, I was expecting this to happen someday and can see it happening for more popular species. But there are only a handful of squirrel suits out there, I just wasn't expecting it this soon.

When my fox suit was built, I had somebody getting a new head for his fox suit at the same time. We debuted at the same con and got mixed up a few times for each other. You'll just need to make your character look more unique and recognizable.

Yeah but there are like a bazillion foxes out there so I could see that. :P I have only seen like a handful of squirrel suits so far. But yes, I do see your point and who knows, perhaps I can be different enough to not get confused.

It could be a coincidence. Went to the same maker and they just reused the patterns. We all start from the same critter.

No shit hun! I saw the suit posted on lacys account and seriously thought it was a late update of yours. Then I saw the different name and couldn't believe it.

Yeah. Friends told me of it first and I couldn't believe it. Like looking in a mirror at first impression.

So it seems like you've seen the suit as well Scooty I was shocked to see another squirrel that looks like yours with the exception of the look of the tail, but everything else just about matches your character, maybe if I was you get a hold of the maker and talk it out to find out what the dealyo is about another suiter that replicates your character.

The maker thinks there are enough differences to justify it. It's whatever, not much I can do about it now.

I'm sorry to hear you feel like the other suiter is so very similar to yours. I pulled up Lacy & Nick's photos of both him and yourself, and I see a lot of differences; actually about as many differences as they could make and still make it a realistically colored grey squirrel.

The grey body appears to be tipped fur, rather than the solid that yours is.
You have different colored ears in tan, and he does not.
You also have an accenting color of tan around your eyes, and he does not.
Your hair is rusty reddish, and his is simply brown.
Your nose is dark, and his nose is pink.
His feet markings go up further than yours.
Honestly, his face in general is kinda derpy; I much prefer the more filled out face you have than his "Looney Tunes" squished face.


That being said, I'm not saying there won't be numbskulls calling you the wrong character.. but not any more than folks' species get confused all the time. I had a grey caracal that continually got called a bunny, and my new chibi Dragon suit gets called RARITY. How she resembles Rarity other than Small muzzle, and is white with purple accents, I don't know. ( http://www.furaffinity.net/view/8229927/ ) Kit also gets called a wolf on a regular basis, despite the fact that he carries no canine tail and he has feline ears and a feline nose.

Thanks Ireme, I know there are some differences and all. Just with so few squirrels in the fandom I figured that the time before critters looking very similar would be a bit longer. I have been called a bunch of different animals before and while that irks me a bit I don't think it can really be the same.

I actually wondered about you when I saw that suit go up since at first glance it looked very similar. Earlier commenter has a point about the subtle differences though, so you also have that in your favor. *huggle*

Scooter is the original and still the best! Like you, I love seeing new rat fursuits show up, but I wouldn't be so happy if one (on cursory inspection) looked like a copy of Rattus or Ziggy. I'm afraid the makers are not doing themselves any favours, releasing another that looks so much like yours. I don't know if that was the commissioner's intent or not; if not I think they should feel let down as well. They may well have commissioned them because they were so impressed with how yours came out, a great compliment, but never expected to be given something so close they'll get confused for you. There's no risk of you being confused for them; you are by far the better known squirrel! I heard a fur asked for basically a copy of Rattus; thankfully that never came to me. They say imitation is the greatest form of flattery, and I am flattered, but that's taking the compliment too far!

I agree with everything you said. It's hard to compare when your not the one copied. It is what it is I guess.

There is another bunny suit out there that looks almost exactly like mine except that the ears are sticking straight up and was made by Latin Vixen. When I first saw it I smiled thinking how much it looked like Barrett. I made a comment on here saying he could be my twin, and the guy wrote back to me in agreement. I wrote to him then that we could hang out if we came across each other at a con. Bottom line - you shouldn't really give a shit because it's trivial. You two could play around w/each other and have fun together!

aww that kind of sucks, but its also kind of flattering that they obviously like yours so much they want to copy you. But its is none the less annoying they coulnd't be a little different and creative.
