We liked the name... Also, we choose to ignore stereotypes. The name isn't to reflect that per say it's just a nifty play on words but quite frankly we know the majority of mobile users will use it for hookups just as much as networking no matter if we aim solely for that direction or not. It's just what those apps are used for. Our app will not allow profiles displaying nude or lude things however.

stereotypes cannot be ignored. i partially lead an eastern washington fur group, and one of our policies is to meet stereotypes head-on and calmly, rationally, and with logic explain and defuse said stereotypes, and try our best to not perpetuate such things in public. actively trying to lead by example, and possibly even change someone's opinion of furries from sex-loving degenerates to responsible, respectable, and for lack of a better word 'normal' people, just with differences, like every other person in the world. because there are many more furries that have done wonderful things than the few loudmouths who ruin everything.
i'm not saying something like this app is a bad idea. it's great to know there are others around you. and i'm not blind to the knowledge that people will use it to find hook ups. they do it on facebook, furaffinity, pounced, ect. but blatantly calling it 'yiff' anything.. if i were rolling down a list of apps and saw that, without an explanation, i just wouldn't click on it.

I agree, that name is not appropriate. Now, I love being a fur as much as anyone else here, but not at all for the sexual aspects of it, and "yiff" is a purely sexual word. Why not go with something like "Furbot," or maybe "iFur," or perhaps "Furventures," or something of the like? I'm no good at naming technological features, really, but I certainly won't have anything to do with an app called "yiffr." :(

ifur... ilol'd XD that would be so funny, but i'm pretty sure there's some copy write law and make android people pissy. haha. i would at least check out ifur on a list of apps, even just for laughs, but it would get views.
but aside from yiff being a sex word.. it's also one of those weird words that furries have come up with just for the sake of fandom vocabulary like 'murry-purry' 'popufur' and all other sort of words.. why cant we just talk like.. yanno.. logical people? :/ whenever my friends and i use them it's more like a punchline, it's fun that way. but taking those words seriously.. hm..

with a name like that there is no way id want that app or want my mate to have it. Yiff is a word that's used for sex most of the time on furry sites. so if i want to stay away from creepy pervs and have a good time why would i turn to a site like yiffr or an app like that. if you want regular furries who don't like spreading the "ill try to fuck any hole" stereotype why would you name it yiffr? your just asking for the wrong attention. and turning the people who have no interest in yiffing or other forms of "sexy" communication off.


In short you might want to rethink the name. its sounds like your offering a porn service with a name like that. not a fun site to just chat on without someone trying to go all pervy on you

I really don't get why folks are getting mad at the name. It's supposed to be like a furry Grindr. Do people hear not know what Grindr is or what it's used for?
